Please go read this thread if you think old people should be allowed to watch the BBC for free...

Then go here:

Post here
elisi: (Thirteen)
So, I am trying to write up my thoughts on S11 (because apparently I need to write them down in order to get them out of my system) and some parts make me cross and some are just annoying and some are just... less than what I hoped for (even with having low expectations).

And I really don't like being negative, so - if you feel so inclined - please share your favourite Thirteen stuff with me? Like, anything. Your favourite scene, or exchange, art work, vids, fic, cosplay, a news story about how Thirteen & Team TARDIS made a difference to someone... Just anything.

Because I want to remember how I felt right at the beginning when everything was exciting and happy.

So, all European (EU) friends:

(If you’re European, in a couple of weeks you will be denied any and all access to fandom contents on Tumblr and everywhere else on the internet. Here’s why.
From this Tumblr post <- obviously the internet won't DISAPPEAR. However, it could be the very slow start...)

More info:

Why You Need to act NOW! To save the internet.

I hate 2018. There's never a 'Surely it's not that bad' option. :( I mean, maybe everything will be fine, but WHAT IF?

(As an EU citizen living in the UK, my rights are already questionable.)

I'm trying to stop seeing half my flist twice, so am going to set up a filter. I would be v. grateful if you'd tick a box to let me know what you prefer. :)

So, is there a way to add a feed on someone's LJ flist for people posting only on DW?

Or would people get very cross, because they want to have left completely? As far as I can tell it isn't possible, so it's a very hypothetical question...

ETA: I appears to be possible, although it might be easier to set up DW notification for the DW accounts you want to follow.

Campaign for Europe on the 25th

Link goes to facebook, this is the main message:

If you're unable to attend [the March today in London] but wish your voice heard contact May today in other ways. Just a sentence or two (i.e. a placard's worth of text) will be enough to ensure your voice is represented. Encourage friends and family to send en masse. She doesn't speak for 65 million. The majority do not want any kind of Brexit at all. Tell her so today: text (you can text to landlines). By email. Online via her contact form. And phone message. If you (British you) would be so kind as to sign this, I'd be very grateful:

Ask your MP to stand with EU citizens in the UK
Regardless of whether you voted to ‘leave’ or ‘remain’ in the EU referendum, we need to use the next two years to build a society which treats other people with dignity and our environment with respect. That means we shouldn’t be treating the lives of the three million EU citizens in the UK as bargaining chips in the Brexit negotiations.

As one of those three million, I can't help but agree...

PROMPT:
Fandom: Torchwood/Buffy;
Characters: Jack Harkness/Spike; P
remise: A case of mistaken identity occurs when Jack meets Spike and mistakes him for John Hart. Angst, perhaps?

Only 250 words, so go have a little read. Interesting take, that's all I'll say. :)

And it's all for Mandy's GoFundMe. If anyone feels like chipping in, I know it will be deeply appreciated. Just a fiver?

[personal profile] kerkevik_2014 is offering to write fic for donations for [personal profile] a_phoenixdragon's Go Fund Me

His posts are here on DW and here on LJ.

Re. fandoms then I say just ask, but certainly Buffy, Angel, Doctor Who, Torcwhood, Star Wars, Star Trek etc. :)
elisi: (Eleven/Amy (foreheads) by meathiel)
[personal profile] a_phoenixdragon still needs help!

Her GoFundMe is here, so if anyone can spare a penny or two (or more) that would be great.

I can't imagine picking up my family and moving cross country, with no safety net, on the hope and belief that surely tomorrow will be better than today. I hope and pray that everything will work out for them. So please help if you can. I'm sure every little contribution will make a difference.
