Daily Dimash: Menıñ Qazaqstanym (Anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan)
Dimash just posted this a few hours ago, and it must be said that Kazakhstan has one of the awesomest national anthems in the world. Obvs this one is Dimash singing, and he could make anything sound good, but it's just such a great melody. It's big and inspiring and tuneful.

Of course I am biased towards the Faroese anthem, which is more meaningful to me (I like the Danish one, but it's a bit... twee?). There are not a lot of versions on youtube, but I rather like this one and the translation is mostly correct:
Týr have recorded a version, but it's instrumental only. However it showcases how good the tune is:

Personal opinion: England should scrap God Save theQueen King - it's slow and dreary - and just bite the bullet and declare Jerusalem the official anthem. It's big and bombastic and properly great. (And weird, yes, but let's go with 'And did those feet-' and the satanic mills. Eccentric is good.)

We were clearly on the same wavelength yesterday - I was skimming through my flist this morning and you've posted music too!! ^_^
Scared to look at the rich people's houses, though. Overly moneyed ugly creeps me out, lol!
As masakochan says, the commentary is exquisite. Enjoy!

I have been convinced! I will definitely have to check it out. :D

And hope you have fun. It's a nice way to unwind.

It has been...rather fun, for sure. I have had several laughs and BOY did I need them!

I consider it an upside. A system that keeps giving. ^_^

I am very partial to it! And the lyrics are beautiful too.
Don't get me started on the American one, which is impossible for most people to sing. Too many octaves.
Do you have an alternative? (Apart from Sweet Caroline. *g*) Like 'Jerusalem' basically is the unofficial anthem here?

That article about the Benoit Blanc films is very good.
When they everyone arrives at the fantasy island, Miles Bron is sitting on the beach playing “Blackbird” on the guitar. Miles Bron could never have learned to play “Blackbird” (which is, let’s face it, a much better song than “Glass Onion”). “Blackbird” is a song that requires patience, sensitivity, grace.
Ah, but we don't see him play the whole of 'Blackbird'. Just a phrase. Which is probably the only bit he CAN play properly and so he just plays it over and over to impress people.

I fear you are right.

Isn't it just? I really appreciated the approach.

That sounds very plausible. Head canon accepted.
