12 October 2016 06:36 pmFirst of all - even if you are beyond fed up of the election, you should watch this ad, urging people to vote. I can't describe it, just trust me. Watch.

Cosmoplitan: The Thrill of Watching Hillary Clinton Take Down Donald Trump
Having Trump as her opponent won't cheapen a Clinton victory. It will sweeten it.
"Anyone who thinks he’s an easy adversary hasn’t spent an hour and a half trying to get his or her point across while a boorish, loud, and entitled man interrupts, condescends, talks over, and eventually threatens you, all while physically menacing you in the few moments he lets you speak without interruption (and then when he talks, he lies)."

(Link with more details here: Donald Trump Appeared In A 2000 Playboy Softcore Porn. ETA: Clarification: He did not get naked, just broke a bottle of champagne and welcomed the stars to New York. And then they went off & did naughty things on their own without him.)
But, delving into the issue (not the porn!) more deeply and looking at the how and whys:
Donald Trump Is Being Outplayed by Women—and He’s Losing His Mind Over It
The GOP nominee’s pathological sexism could be what kills his presidential hopes. Good.
And then I found this excellent article by Sady Doyle:
Hillary Clinton, who has suffered fools all her life, is bulletproof against Donald Trump’s low blows
Money quote:
[Again,] Trump seemingly hasn’t noticed that by continuing to go after Machado, he’s playing right into Clinton’s characterization of him as a bully. If the opportunity to call a woman ugly comes up, he has to take it. To back down would make him less than a man. And that’s the kind of mindset Clinton is counting on. She’s ready for a debate-as-bullfight: Matador Hillary keeps waving her big red cape (or red suit) in front of the bull, so he’ll put his head down and charge. All the while, she’s planning to stick him as he rushes by.
Trump has not faced an opponent like this before. Jeb Bush cowered. Marco Rubio and Cruz tried and failed to match the reality TV star insult-for-insult. But Hillary Clinton understands the power of holding her ground and smilingly, knowingly baiting him, reaping the rewards every time he combusts.
Or, as she puts it in this tweet:
"Never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake" - Napoleon, and also Hillary Clinton's face right now

(If you have not seen it, it's embedded in the article. It's worth watching.) (30 million people aren't wrong. *g*)

Well this is cheery...
15 September 2016 01:50 pmThis is basically going through the whole last century recording progress for women.
Fear of a Female President
Hillary Clinton’s candidacy has provoked a wave of misogyny—one that may roil American life for years to come.
Thing that especially stood out for me (it seems we are right when we say 'Masculinity so fragile'):
To understand this reaction, start with what social psychologists call “precarious manhood” theory. The theory posits that while womanhood is typically viewed as natural and permanent, manhood must be “earned and maintained.” Because it is won, it can also be lost. Scholars at the University of South Florida and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign reported that when asked how someone might lose his manhood, college students rattled off social failures like “losing a job.” When asked how someone might lose her womanhood, by contrast, they mostly came up with physical examples like “a sex-change operation” or “having a hysterectomy.”
I get knocked down...
8 September 2016 09:21 pmIt somehow seemed to go well with this...
“I was taking a law school admissions test in a big classroom at Harvard. My friend and I were some of the only women in the room. I was feeling nervous. I was a senior in college. I wasn’t sure how well I’d do. And while we’re waiting for the exam to start, a group of men began to yell things like: ‘You don’t need to be here.’ And ‘There’s plenty else you can do.’ It turned into a real ‘pile on.’ One of them even said: ‘If you take my spot, I’ll get drafted, and I’ll go to Vietnam, and I’ll die.’ And they weren’t kidding around. It was intense. It got very personal. But I couldn’t respond. I couldn’t afford to get distracted because I didn’t want to mess up the test. So I just kept looking down, hoping that the proctor would walk in the room. I know that I can be perceived as aloof or cold or unemotional. But I had to learn as a young woman to control my emotions. And that’s a hard path to walk. Because you need to protect yourself, you need to keep steady, but at the same time you don’t want to seem ‘walled off.’ And sometimes I think I come across more in the ‘walled off’ arena. And if I create that perception, then I take responsibility. I don’t view myself as cold or unemotional. And neither do my friends. And neither does my family. But if that sometimes is the perception I create, then I can’t blame people for thinking that.”

And of course we know that Hillary is ( The Final Girl )

2. A hilarious article (with thanks to Petzi):

3 September 2016 04:25 pmHillary Clinton Did NOT Lie About Her Emails
Contrary to the furious spin from Hillary Clinton’s adversaries in the media and Republican Party, FBI Director James Comey did not undercut Hillary’s truthfulness on her State Department emails. In fact, his statement and testimony affirm that Hillary has been honest about the email issue from day one. Here are the facts, not the spin.
14 Excerpts From the FBI's Report on Hillary Clinton's Email
You should read this.
And to add a little context, which you may or may not be aware of:
22 Million White House Emails May Be Missing
Up to 22 million White House emails may be missing, according to the US Attorney General. The emails, requested as part of a congressional investigation, could not be produced because they were sent on a non-governmental email server. [...] The 22 million emails were lost in 2007. Under the Bush Administration.
Read it. :) Oh, and the emails are missing because Karl Rove deleted them!

‘My Country Accepts Me as a Woman’
Hillary Clinton was the force behind a little-known breakthrough in transgender rights. So why doesn’t she talk about it?
Yet another example of Hillary getting stuff done and making a significant and measurable positive impact on people's lives. Trans people in this case. And as far as I can tell she does it quite simply because it's the right thing to do, and she *can*. Whatever her flaws (which I won't point out, people are far too eager to list them), I believe her when she says that she adheres to what her Methodist faith has taught her:
“Do all the good you can, for all the people you can, in all the ways you can, as long as ever you can.”
