Hillary Clinton wore white — a symbol of women's suffrage — to Trump's inauguration
It was a striking statement on the eve of the Women’s March on Washington.

Seriously. Read it. It isn't long.

"The worst thing that can happen in a democracy - as well as in an individual's life - is to become cynical about the future and lose hope."

Warren embraces her role as a top Democratic foil to Trump

The “Women’s March on Washington,” explained
It was organized to put the Trump administration on notice about women’s rights — and it could draw more attendees than the inauguration itself.

ETA: God bless Green Day:

Green Day Shocks ABC Execs With Anti-Trump Chant During The American Music Awards
Last night, during a live broadcast of the American Music Awards on ABC, punk legends Green Day performed their latest single “Bang, Bang,” as scheduled. But they surprised ABC reps by adding a special message for president-elect Donald Trump in the middle of the song. According to TMZ, ABC reps were thrown “completely off guard” when the band broke into a chant of “No Trump! No KKK! No fascist USA!” during the song’s breakdown, inspiring a standing ovation after the band’s performance.

All I can really say is - buy this book & read it. It lays bare all the mechanisms beneath the surface, is painful and horrible and yes, makes you want to shout 'Down with the patriarchy!' A lot. Even as we see it unfolding all around us... It's a horribly prescient book, as Sady herself reflects in her latest post:

The Trainwreck Files: Hillary Clinton

And here she is, 10 months ago, writing about Hillary's 'likeability' and the impossible doublestandards any woman has to adhere to: Likable

It's not that anyone around here is blind to how the world works. But this book delves deeper than any other I've read. I literally can't recommend it enough.

Finally, thoughts on 'the patriarchy' by the way of quotes from books... I hope you can see what I'm trying to highlight.

Don't call Clinton a weak candidate: it took decades of scheming to beat her
Years of Republican plots, an opponent deified by television, and FBI smears stood in her way – and she still won the popular vote by more than Kennedy did

Sady Doyle: With Hillary Clinton’s loss, the future my husband and I were planning for is gone
My husband and I were talking about children. That’s what keeps going through my head. We were standing in a long line outside an elementary school in Brooklyn on Tuesday, waiting to vote.

“Think about it,” he told me. “They’ll never grow up in a world where a woman or a black man can’t be president. It will just be normal to them.”

So very tired of the election... And I'm only watching from the sidelines.

Here's Sady Doyle:

Goodbye to all that: I’m done with Election 2016
It is not fun, was not fun, has never been and could never be fun, spending nearly two years “debating” my own humanity through the lens of the biggest news story in the country. It has not been fun realizing that this matter was up for debate. I mean: By my count, Donald Trump currently has twelve standing allegations of sexual assault. Now, thanks to the magic of modern polling, I can see *exactly* how many of my countrymen don’t give a shit. According to FiveThirtyEight, the number of Americans who would rather elect a rapist than a female human being stands at around 45 percent.

Stop Pretending You Don’t Know Why People Hate Hillary Clinton

And although Louis CK was very entertaining, I can't argue with this:
Louis C.K., Michael Moore, Hillary Clinton, and the rise of benevolent sexism in liberal men
C.K. obviously means well. He’s trying to compliment mothers in general and Hillary in particular, and to reframe the political liability of her gender into an asset. But he’s playing into a very old and unpleasant narrative that’s become weirdly popular among liberal men this election cycle: the idea that we need women in government because they are intrinsically morally superior to men.

To stop everyone being too depressed, I'll point you towards:
