Same here. Let's hope this final run is awesome. (It's going to be all one long story, rather than standalones, so it'll finally be Chibnall playing to his strengths.)

Have been lowkey expecting this announcement since "Jodie is leaving after some 2022 specials" has been rumored for a few weeks... but very surprised that they just dropped this on twitter out of nowhere rather than announcing it at the hyped Comic Con panel they had four days ago.

I would've liked to see more of Jodie, but the most likely scenario was always gonna be Chibnall outlasting her rather than the other way around, so I'm content with this news. I just hope they make good use of the time they have left.

Same here, but Chibnall going too was a surprise. When he took over he talked about 'a five year plan' so I always presumed he had more he wanted to do.

I know, I was only thinking this morning that there seemed to be no rumoured successor whatsoever, so we'd have him FOREVER and EVER. And woke up from my afternoon rest to find this, and was pleased to have been proven wrong almost instantly.

I am sad Jodie is going, hugely relieved to have an end date on Chris Chibnall's era, and very intrigued as to what and who comes next now - like, 2023 is the anniversary year as well! Is there some plan? Colour me intrigued all right.

Given the Covid interruption I guess it has been some years but this seems like a really brief tenure. I certainly hope a person of color will replace her.

Three seasons is fairly standard, but the seasons themselves have been shorter and covid really hasn't helped.

As I have not seen 13's seasons from beyond her first, I'm rather reeling from this news...and missing the BBC America we used to have access to, lol!

As I'm sure you've heard, her 2nd season is a definite improvement on the 1st. But they're both very short, so I'm sure you'll be able to catch up at some point. (When life gives you a break/renewed access to BBC America!)

I've not been impressed by Chibnall as show-runner - some quite sloppy writing. I wish Jodie was staying for one season with a new show-runner, as it would be good to see what she could do with better writing.

I went in with fairly low expectations, and he didn't meet them. Which is weird, because he was fine on Torchwood and people love Broadchurch. Here's to hoping the ending will be good!

That's a shame, but she got more screentime than Eccleston, so not too annoyed. Would otherwise have been more angry at the sexist Sun-reading "fans" who have clearly never seen a single episode before her run...

Absolutely fair enough. There are a handful of good episodes (without spiders), but I almost rage-quit after the amazon episode, so I can't talk.

Sad to Whittaker go, I feel a bit indifferent towards Chibnall, but I have enjoyed his run so far, just not as much as previous seasons of the show.

Yeah, wish Jodie could stay. :( Chibnall has not played to any of his strengths, which is sad & strange, but there we go.
