Oooh but she CAN be! I took until ep 8 of S12 for it to show up properly (there was a bit in ep 4 of S12 as well), and Jodie is an amazing actress who can totally pull it off. But they hardly touched it, sadly. I hope they'll do more with it in S13, because it's such a waste of Jodie to keep her Doctor all... fluffy.

Missed... her being awesome? Well, I'm sure you could hunt down the episodes if you really want. There are a handful of genuinely good ones. :) And yes, I hope she has a great exit. Although I liked Ryan & Graham's - it's nice to have companions leave because they have decided they want to do something else, rather than because they die. :)

*nods* Although at least they didn't try to whitewash it, or pretend things were fine in the past. As you say, it helps with his decision - also it could spur him onto do more himself, looking at BLM etc. It's good when the companions leave because they want to try to change the world they live in.

Technically Martha "died" in Turn Left. But that was reversed so I didn't pick on that. Clara is second to Donna for experiencing the TARDIS interior for the first time twice. It just felt like two different Clara's played by Jenna Coleman.

I think you mean Donna, but I wasn't thinking of that - I meant the mindwipe. Throughout the S4 finale it goes on about how one of the companions will die, and it's all about Donna because she loses her memories. Again, not a real death and yet.

Few people are good at writing time travel well. Moffat is one of the few, but generally it's very tricky. The only one I can think of from the Classic Show (off the top of my head) is Mel. ETA: Mel! Not Mels.

Overall, each modern companion had some skillset to offer, some more than others. We never saw Rose use her gymnastics skills. Instead she reminded us of being nonplussed about working in as shop.

Very much agree with this. Although all kinds of things can age something, and often not what people expect.

Well her gymnastic skills were only brought up once, and it wasn't really something she was still working on. Her skills were Being Human and Being A Friend.
