*surprised*
Meanwhile, no surprises for when an actors contract is up.
Companions from the past will probably need a cheat sheet for modern terminology. I think that's the phrase?
Moffat said if you try to make something "too futuristic", it will look outdated, when its that actual time period. He made Jack and River from the same time and added a sprinkle of mystery. We still don't know what Jack's real name is.
Overall, each modern companion had some skillset to offer, some more than others. We never saw Rose use her gymnastics skills. Instead she reminded us of being nonplussed about working in as shop.
CLARA: I'm fine. I take Year Seven for after school Tae Kwon Do.
Me: Okay. Prove it!
I'm asking too much, aren't I?
Anyway, I've only seen a few scenes from The Seventh Doctor era. So don't really know Mels(Melanie), well. Her name should have been mentioned by the Eleventh Doctor. That was a wasted opportunity.
BTW: Funny userpic.:)

Yes, that's the one. But then every companion has to learn all the Doctor Who terminology anyway. :)

Very much agree with this. Although all kinds of things can age something, and often not what people expect.

Well her gymnastic skills were only brought up once, and it wasn't really something she was still working on. Her skills were Being Human and Being A Friend.
CLARA: I'm fine. I take Year Seven for after school Tae Kwon Do.
LOL. Zero recollection of this line. Also... yes probably asking too much, unless the actor has that skill. Hm. That would be neat. And hey, they got Eleven to play football, which was Matt Smith's actual skill! There you go. :)

Probably too obscure to be added, but yeah, would have been fun. I love Seven, he's like Eleven, very much a trickster with plans-inside-plans. If you get a chance to watch, do!
BTW: Funny userpic.:)
Thank you! I like Mel and it's my only userpic of her.

In the Fourth Doctor era, there was Leela who came from a tribe of "regressed" humans and was quick to pick up on things.
Take a look at the movie: Back To The Future.*shrugs*
True. But I thought RTD was trying to find a link between swinging on a rope and Gymnastics as a Sport. Rose was sort of going through the motions*slight Buffy reference*
That sport should have been mentioned in regards to Danny Pink, who could do an impressive jump and roll over thingy (my made up term), in The Caretaker.
In Robot of Sherwood, Clara takes hold of a anachronistic halberd (a two handed pole weapon). That was her defence after the Doctor wondered what she was doing. I remember that scene because it just came out of no where, like her teaching career.
Oh, yes. Matt and his football. He had to give it up professionally after an injury.
MISSY: Well, team, who's going to help me hide his gee-tar?*talking of the Twelfth Doctor*
I think she means Peter Capaldi's guitar skills.:)
Seventh Doctor: Come on Ace, we've got work to do.*goes on hiatus for sixteen years*
"If you get a chance to watch, do!"
Hopefully, I will. I've only seen edited versions of a few episodes.:)

I love Leela SO MUCH. One of my all-time favourite companions.

LOL

Former soldier and all that. Had to be fit! (To be fair, Twelve kept calling him 'PE' so he didn't overlook it.)

She just kept busy when she wasn't running around the universe.
Oh, yes. Matt and his football. He had to give it up professionally after an injury.
I remember. And we should be grateful for that injury - I can't imagine Doctor Who without him!
I think she means Peter Capaldi's guitar skills.:)
Which are awesome. She's just jealous. ;)
Seventh Doctor: Come on Ace, we've got work to do.*goes on hiatus for sixteen years*
*snort* At least Big Finish have been busy filling out the gaps.
(Apologies for another long gap, but work is finally calming down.)

Amy Pond: Is that a leather bikini?
Leela was underrated! Her eye colour even changed.;)
Twelfth Doctor: Right now, you could run faster and you could fight harder, you could jump higher than ever in your life.
Why was Danny called Rupert when he was a child?*shrugs*
I guess this is what fan fiction is for. Moffat was a teacher but he didn't particularly like it. He probably played with DW figures during lunch break.:)
I remember Peter Calpadi said he bumped into Matt Smith on set, who was on crutches.
Peter: What happened?!
Matt: This job, mate.
Doctor Who can get quite physical. Enter stunt doubles.
MISSY: I've got some requests. I want some new books, some toys, like a particle accelerator, a 3-D printer and a pony.
She had that piano already, they could have done a duet.
Big Finish. The title says it all.
No problem. I usually respond about a week at the latest. It just depends on if I have anything half-interesting to say.:)

She is one of my all-time favourites! ♥ Here's to companions who like to stab people! :D
Why was Danny called Rupert when he was a child?*shrugs*
Because that was his name? But he didn't like it, so he changed it.

Yes, I can vividly picture it. (I'm glad he became a writer instead!)
Matt: This job, mate.
LOL. And yes, 'an outrageous amount of running' as Donna put it. And lines.
She had that piano already, they could have done a duet.
That could have been a FANTASTIC dvd extra.
Big Finish. The title says it all.
Long may it continue. (It's not my thing, I find audios incredibly difficult to follow, but I'm glad they exist.)
No problem. I usually respond about a week at the latest. It just depends on if I have anything half-interesting to say.:)
And I'll get back to you a month later...

Leela was a savage. More of a stab first, ask questions later kind of woman.
Clara: Who asks for homework?
I guess Moffat decided to write what he knew, or at least what he didn't like about being a teacher.
Pregnant Amy: Can we not do the running thing?
My sentiments exactly. The reason stunt doubles are needed. If it was me, I'd have a stunt double for running. :D
Missy: I just had a clever idea.
Well, I'm going to pretend that's what happened off-screen.*thinks of naming Missy, Piano Fingers*
I don't listened to Big Finish either, but at least others have that option.
If Amy can wait, so can I.:)

Sounds like a good theory. His first show was set in a school, so he knows how to write kids. (If you ever get the chance to watch Press Gang, go for it!)

Me too!!!
Well, I'm going to pretend that's what happened off-screen.*thinks of naming Missy, Piano Fingers*
I like it.

Yes, I'm glad they're making them. Sadly they're too expensive to be widely accessible.
If Amy can wait, so can I.:)
Hopefully not for that long!

It would be nice to see Louise Jameson in a cameo on DW. I've heard she did some Big Finish work.
Yeah. Besides exerting oneself in physical stunts, there are also technical ones like the fast driving Martha did in "Sound of Drums".
Speaking of Missy, I only just watched "Spyfall". Yeah, I'm late and only watching what I've been told are the essential episodes.
Oh yes! As something the Tenth Doctor would say. It was more emphasis on being patient, rather than the duration. Amy had to wait for the Doctor as a grown woman too.
no subject
Well you never know! That's the great thing about Doctor Who. :)

*claps* That is probably my favourite of all of Chibnall's run (so far). A few, um, questionable choices, but overall great fun. And Sacha Dhawan is *chef's kiss*

All thanks to bas-math-girl. Who gave me the recommendation.
Twelfth Doctor: She cares so I don't have to.
Okay. I care a little bit.:)
River Song: Spoilers.
The Nazi get up was interesting. But I focused more on his performance rather than the attire.
no subject
Mmmm. And interestingly Thirteen came out of that confrontation as the worse person (imho). Anyway, I hope they keep him on! :)
no subject
True. And That's twice that The Master has one up The Doctor. For once, I'd like the Doctor to know who The Master is before The Master knows who The Doctor is. If that makes any sense. In other words, mix it up, man!*talking to whoever is in charge by that point. If ever*
no subject
Oh yes, I would love that.
no subject
MISSY: Yes, my dear, you will.
Rinse, repeat.*idiom*
However, I can understand that it would be challenging to one up the previous storyline for the same villain. Buffy had one Big Bad per season. Then it was done.
Maybe do something on the lines of that Surprise Banana Trick Eleven did in the episode: Lets Kill Hitler.
no subject
Buffy only had 7 seasons... ;)

When you put it like that. There really isn't any point to compare.:)
ANDREW: You're English, right?
SPIKE: (frowns at him suspiciously) Yeah.
ANDREW: I've seen every episode of Doctor Who. (Spike continues frowning)
Really, Andrew? Every single one of them?! We shall never know.

no subject
I'm not going to bother doing the maths.*reads wikipedia page*
Hilarious in Hindsight TV Trope: "Jonathan tells Spike that he's seen every episode of Doctor Who. James Marsters would later appear in the Spin-Off Torchwood as Captain John Hart, who is not dissimilar to Spike".
Err...Someone needs to edit that page.
no subject
*tilts head* On surface level they're not wrong, although the best summary was:
Spike: Love's Bitch
Capt Hart: Loves Bitches
;)
no subject
They got Andrew confused with Johnathan. Must have thought: potato, patata.*shrugs*
Spike had the tendency to be quite philosophical.
Captain Hart: You were my passport to survival. No hard feelings. Well, not in that sense.
no subject
Oh dear. I am judging them very hard.
Spike had the tendency to be quite philosophical.
When the mood took him... :)
no subject
Okay. Because I thought I was seeing things.
ANGEL
You and me. This isn't working out.
SPIKE
(holds his hand to his chest)
Are you saying we should start annoying other people?
Yeah. Followed by a hint of sarcasm.
no subject
I love them so much.

Maybe taken out of context.*thankful for spinoffs*
