That sound you just heard? Was my head exploding from reading buffy #19. I mean, you would have *thought* that after all the Twilight-y goodness crack I've been subjecting myself to, I'd be fairly immune to crazy, but no. My brain is struggling to cope.

OK, the whole Fray thing with Willow and so forth MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. I mean, at all. Everything ended up back where they started, except apparently Willow will (for some reason) live for a few centuries. (And good on her for using a blindfold, THANK YOU! I hate it when people stupidly do not follow simple instructions.)

The whole creatures of forest battle thing was so ridiculous that my mind kinda blanked it out.

And then came the point at which my head exploded and I DIED! OMG it's RILEY and he's an EEEEEVOL and working for Twilight and he was was the 'mystery date' and my god could they possibly be more insulting to Buffy? I want to be angry, but quite honestly I just can't help but enjoying the fact that MONTHS WORTH of speculation is finally proven right! (I, obviously, think it OOC, but then, like, EVERYONE and EVERYTHING, is OOC in s8, so it's nice to add another one to the collection. Oh! If this is canon, then it *proves* - IMHO - that the whole Doctor thing in AYW was a total stitch-up to get Buffy to dump Spike.)

This is going to keep me amused for a long, long time. (Of course Riley could be a double-agent, but I DON"T CARE. Maybe he also took up ballet, it doesn't matter. I'm going to bed now.)

In my happy world of AU the Fray arc hasn't happened, Spike shows up with Illyria, Connor and a human Angel. Their minds can't take the weirdness that is season 8 and go back to hell LA. Buffy goes with them, cause just a farewell shag from Spike is not good enough.

You know, if I gave half a rat's ass about this comic series, I'd feel something about the whole let's slip into a blend of Greek mytholgy/Lord of the Ringish stuff, whip up a timeline arc that makes no freaking sense, and toss in an evil Riley just for piss and giggles.

So maybe Riley actually had two chips implanted, but he only found out about one, so they (being the EVOL US Military) turned it on. He's a tool. Well, we always knew he was a tool. *g*

I wrote a fic where Riley was Mama Walsh's good little solder boy until the end when he ended up betraying her and helping Buffy, and I got a lot of, "OMG, you made Riley a hero! How could you?" feedback. And all I could say was is that Riley wasn't really a bad guy. A schmuck maybe, but not a bad guy.

They make for v. entertaining crack-fic, which is why I keep reading. And the fact that they make less and less sense the further along they get. ('Angel: After the Fall' is nearing completion now - all the plot threads are coming together, and there's a lot of 'Oooh, so *that's* why!' happening. Excellent story, although some of the artwork lets it down. ETA: Also - Gunn! Brian Lynch should get an award for what he's done with the characterisation. Seriously, it's impressing the hell out of everyone I've talked to about it!)
