Icon is spot-on.

That sound you just heard? Was my head exploding from reading buffy #19. I mean, you would have *thought* that after all the Twilight-y goodness crack I've been subjecting myself to, I'd be fairly immune to crazy, but no. My brain is struggling to cope.

OK, the whole Fray thing with Willow and so forth MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. I mean, at all. Everything ended up back where they started, except apparently Willow will (for some reason) live for a few centuries. (And good on her for using a blindfold, THANK YOU! I hate it when people stupidly do not follow simple instructions.)

The whole creatures of forest battle thing was so ridiculous that my mind kinda blanked it out.

And then came the point at which my head exploded and I DIED! OMG it's RILEY and he's an EEEEEVOL and working for Twilight and he was was the 'mystery date' and my god could they possibly be more insulting to Buffy? I want to be angry, but quite honestly I just can't help but enjoying the fact that MONTHS WORTH of speculation is finally proven right! (I, obviously, think it OOC, but then, like, EVERYONE and EVERYTHING, is OOC in s8, so it's nice to add another one to the collection. Oh! If this is canon, then it *proves* - IMHO - that the whole Doctor thing in AYW was a total stitch-up to get Buffy to dump Spike.)

This is going to keep me amused for a long, long time. (Of course Riley could be a double-agent, but I DON"T CARE. Maybe he also took up ballet, it doesn't matter. I'm going to bed now.)

The S8 comics are crack!fic. Seriously.

Is Sam, like, dead or something? Or a good pal of Riley's who was pretending to be his wife to make Buffy jealous? Or was she really an android all along? Because regardless of whether Riley's a double agent or evol, it's seriously uncool of the Buffster to poach a married man...

[identity profile] zanthinegirl.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
The writers:

Sam? What Sam? Naw, she doesn't fit my story. What the heck; we'll ignore her. It's not like anyone will remember her!

Possibly I'm a tad cynical...

[identity profile] shipperx.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely. I cannot begin to take them serious because they're just so... crack-ficcy!

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I, obviously, think it OOC

What? You're saying Riley working with Tara's murderer to bring down Buffy is OOC? Come on. ;-)

I really liked the bit where Buffy didn't even try to listen to Willow and just killed her. It was almost as good as the one where Buffy broke Fray's scythe.

But hey, at least Fray and Erin are still around, so obviously the only thing Buffy accomplished here was to make sure Twilight will win.

What? Riley is evil now? I like Riley!

Man, I knew if I quit keeping up with season 8 I'd regret it. Well, "regret" is a strong word...

I gave up after the Dawn thing dragged on, and on, and on... BTW, did that ever get resolved? Did it ever serve a point?

I knew Riley had to show up and be Evooll!!! thanks for spoiling me, knowing what will happen allows me to mock as a preemptive strike.

In my happy world of AU the Fray arc hasn't happened, Spike shows up with Illyria, Connor and a human Angel. Their minds can't take the weirdness that is season 8 and go back to hell LA. Buffy goes with them, cause just a farewell shag from Spike is not good enough.

Joss:
Angelus arc was good. I have to repeat it. Spike won't do - he already was evil. What about Riley? He hasn't played evil part yet!

Does it mean we''l get evil!Parker arc soon?

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it mean we''l get evil!Parker arc soon?

Well, who do you think Twilight is? Maybe in this timeline, Riley and Parker were best friends in college?

I decided a while back that Twilight was probably Tucker Wells.

After all, if the whole thing is a product of Andrew's imagination, who else would he be?

BTW, did that ever get resolved?

Well, if by "resolved" you mean she's now a centaur instead of a giant, yeah.

::wants some of whatever the writers are smoking::

So do I...

[identity profile] fangfaceandrea.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
heee!!

That theory makes everything fit perfectly.

Love your icon.

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. What really happened was that Robin Wood used to share a cell with Tucker. Ever since, he's been working with Tucker and Andrew (after all, Robin's the one who hid the evidence of Andrew's murder of Jonathan) to take over the Slayer council. Andrew and Robin are already trusted Watchers, and Tucker's ultimate plan isn't to rid the world of Slayers but to control them - to become the new Quentin Travers. Season 8 is a propaganda tool specifically designed by Andrew to ensure that everyone knows that a) he's the best leader there is, and b) having Buffy in charge is a Very Bad Idea.

Buffy telling Robin that "the brains of our operation [Andrew] wears oven mitts" wasn't a joke; it was foreshadowing.

That's... just... awesome.

Disclaimer: I do not read the comics, I only read other peoples rants about them. ;-)

So, Riley is evil? Bwah! I can't help but think of all the people who criticized fanfic writers who portrayed Riley as evil as writing him OOC. Hee!

[identity profile] cindergal.livejournal.com 2008-11-26 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor Doug Petrie! ;-)

Thanks, it's one of AWMP's best ideas ever XD

Oh! If this is canon, then it *proves* - IMHO - that the whole Doctor thing in AYW was a total stitch-up to get Buffy to dump Spike.

That's the first thing I said when I heard about it, too! Bring on the As You Were retcons! ;)

I once mentioned that I thought Joss was burnt out and not paying attention during a lot of seasons 6 and 7, and was immediately jumped on for daring to suggest such a thing. I'm kinda feeling that stuff like this (and his "Oh, Warren died?") supports that theory. :/

[identity profile] beer-good-foamy.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
And if this really is supposed to be an AYW retcon, and Riley really was the Doctor, and the whole thing was a plot against Buffy (since he's evil and all)... who do you think summoned that big demon Riley was allegedly chasing, eh? It looks fairly hellhound-y. No wonder Sam didn't want them to kill it; she knew how protective Tucker gets of his little darlings.

Wait, I'll go you one better: who do you think summoned Sam? ;-)

Does it mean we''l get evil!Parker arc soon?

Yes, but it's Parker from Thunderbirds, driving Lady Penelope's big pink car.

What? It's as logical as anything offered to us so far.

[identity profile] ladycat713.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
That makes much more sense than this being canon.

[identity profile] ladycat713.livejournal.com 2008-11-27 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Next thing you know , they'll have her go into heat and get knocked up by a horse and give birth to a glowing green foal which will mutate into a grown woman and seduce Giles.
