Icon is spot-on.

That sound you just heard? Was my head exploding from reading buffy #19. I mean, you would have *thought* that after all the Twilight-y goodness crack I've been subjecting myself to, I'd be fairly immune to crazy, but no. My brain is struggling to cope.

OK, the whole Fray thing with Willow and so forth MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. I mean, at all. Everything ended up back where they started, except apparently Willow will (for some reason) live for a few centuries. (And good on her for using a blindfold, THANK YOU! I hate it when people stupidly do not follow simple instructions.)

The whole creatures of forest battle thing was so ridiculous that my mind kinda blanked it out.

And then came the point at which my head exploded and I DIED! OMG it's RILEY and he's an EEEEEVOL and working for Twilight and he was was the 'mystery date' and my god could they possibly be more insulting to Buffy? I want to be angry, but quite honestly I just can't help but enjoying the fact that MONTHS WORTH of speculation is finally proven right! (I, obviously, think it OOC, but then, like, EVERYONE and EVERYTHING, is OOC in s8, so it's nice to add another one to the collection. Oh! If this is canon, then it *proves* - IMHO - that the whole Doctor thing in AYW was a total stitch-up to get Buffy to dump Spike.)

This is going to keep me amused for a long, long time. (Of course Riley could be a double-agent, but I DON"T CARE. Maybe he also took up ballet, it doesn't matter. I'm going to bed now.)

Last night in [livejournal.com profile] a2zmom's Bones review post, I made mention that I was reading the sucky Buffy comic and had Bones on mute for the first bit. She replied:

I actually love the BtVS comics and I keep meaning to do a post because most people seem to read them incorrectly. In other words, a lot of what the characters say should not be taken literally, much like the show.

I hope she makes that post, because I never really had a problem understanding what was going on in the series (even if I thought it was shite, like S7) so if she can make me understand and like these comics, it'll be a true miracle.

I'll definitely link you. I hope she makes that post, too.

I do love Spike's story in S7, but I hate the potentials (just like I really, really dislike the idea of a Slayer army which totally defeats the entire Slayer premise - one girl standing between mankind and the evils of the night). I also hate the hatchet-job on Giles' character and the utter uselessness of Xander in most of the season. Toss in Robin Wood (though I loved Spike's beat-down of him *g*) and Kennedy (Ugh!), and there is just a lot about the season I don't like.

I thought S7 was going to be totally awesome the first few episodes, but I think in execution it failed.

I will admit, however, that I have never rewatched the season since its original airing even though I have the DVDs. Perhaps it's one of those seasons that really needs to be watched in a marathon.

I think part of it is when you first watch something you can't help but project hopes and ideas onto the story, whereas when you know where it's going it's a lot easier to appreciate the ride, instead of wondering about all the things you're not getting.

What I tend to call The Vegemite Effect. I think that's probably responsible for a lot of the season 7 hate...
