That sound you just heard? Was my head exploding from reading buffy #19. I mean, you would have *thought* that after all the Twilight-y goodness crack I've been subjecting myself to, I'd be fairly immune to crazy, but no. My brain is struggling to cope.
OK, the whole Fray thing with Willow and so forth MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. I mean, at all. Everything ended up back where they started, except apparently Willow will (for some reason) live for a few centuries. (And good on her for using a blindfold, THANK YOU! I hate it when people stupidly do not follow simple instructions.)
The whole creatures of forest battle thing was so ridiculous that my mind kinda blanked it out.
And then came the point at which my head exploded and I DIED! OMG it's RILEY and he's an EEEEEVOL and working for Twilight and he was was the 'mystery date' and my god could they possibly be more insulting to Buffy? I want to be angry, but quite honestly I just can't help but enjoying the fact that MONTHS WORTH of speculation is finally proven right! (I, obviously, think it OOC, but then, like, EVERYONE and EVERYTHING, is OOC in s8, so it's nice to add another one to the collection. Oh! If this is canon, then it *proves* - IMHO - that the whole Doctor thing in AYW was a total stitch-up to get Buffy to dump Spike.)
This is going to keep me amused for a long, long time. (Of course Riley could be a double-agent, but I DON"T CARE. Maybe he also took up ballet, it doesn't matter. I'm going to bed now.)

Me neither. Although she's currently single, and lonely, so it wouldn't be out of character for there to be at least some wishful thinking/regrets when she sees him again.
I'm sorry, but I can't reply to that with a straight face.
You know, I could be equally mocking about Season 6 if I wanted to (and if it weren't my favourite season). Buffy sleeps with Spike?! Willow tries to destroy the world?! Old ladies with a penis-monster for a head?! A musical episode??!! Clearly Joss has completely lost the plot.
So blowing up 50 young women in cold blood (and *bitching* about it not working as well as planned) is a good and noble thing now? Or are we in 'the end justifies the means' territory?
Of course we're in "end justifies the means" territory. That's been pretty much the overriding conflict of this season - and the previous one too. Remember what Buffy said to Spike and Willow in 'Get It Done'?
Nobody's denying that something odd must have happened for Riley to be allied with Twilight - just as it was odd when he turned up in Adam's bunker at the end of S4. But as for the killing - he's a soldier. "Soldiers die, Rowena. They do it all the time."
Which brings us back to everyone-is-OOC...
Buffy being self-absorbed, convinced that her way is the only right way, and ruthlessly determined to do whatever it takes to save the world is her being OOC now, is it? ;-)

She's single because she dumped her girlfriend. And she did the wistful thing already. Anyway my problem isn't really Buffy, but Riley's attitude.

A. The proof is in the eating. B. Continuity. (Lacking in s8!)

There is a difference. Buffy told Spike to be *dangerous* - not to go out killing again.
Meh. I'm too tired to argue about this. s8 is fun crack!fic and that's all it'll ever be, sorry. With the best will in the world I can't fanwank it into making sense. And I can fanwank Torchwood!
