Gatsby trailer
This trailer is ridiculously gorgeous. (Watch it in full screen! Seriously.) The thing is, I don't expect the movie to be as brilliant as the trailer makes out, but that doesn't dent my appreciation one bit. This is... like a vid. A stunning, enchanting vid.

I should read this book again. I haven't read it since we were assigned it in high school.

And I need to re-read it too. I read it years ago and all I can remember is being rather underwhelmed...

He's aged well. In fact, I think I like him better now.

Now that I have read the book, this will not be another work of classic literature that I know about only via Baz Luhrmann (sp?). Unlike Romeo and Juliet. (I had some serious gaps in my high school lit classes. :P )

And thank goodness for exciting films etc. Doctor Who is directly responsible for me reading T. S. Eliot and Dante. :)

If you have an ereader I have it in kindle format (mobi) if you'd like. Pretty sure it's out of copyright so it's also here at project gutenberg.

I was reading casting spoilers, and realized I couldn't remember which character was Daisy.
See my instant reaction to that is 'SALLY SPARROW!' so um... same problem. *g*
It's a pretty quick read, and I suspect I got more from the story and from the writing as an adult than I did at 15 or 16!
If I could find it, I'd read it asap.
We have too many booksWe are too disoraganised. And yes, I was rather young when I read it, so I'm sure I'll get more from it now.If you have an ereader I have it in kindle format (mobi) if you'd like. Pretty sure it's out of copyright so it's also here at project gutenberg.
Neat. Miss M has a Kidle, so I'll
stealborrow it at some point if I can't unearth our actual copy that I'm sure is in the house SOMEWHERE.no subject
And I know what you mean about
too many booksbeing disorganized! It's the main reason I got a kindle actually.no subject
(I also need to re-read Ender's Game. Apparently they're making a movie. I know Orson Scott Card is an idiot, but oh Lord, I loved that book!)

I heard about Ender's Game! Harrison Ford's involved. I need to reread that one too. OSC is as crazy as it gets IMO but I don't remember the crazy being as obnoxious in the earlier books. At least I hope not. I was pretty young when I read that one (and I loved that book so hard!), and I might have just missed it. Now I'm a little worried!

And as for the film, then Asa Butterfield (little Mordred on Merlin, and Hugo in the film of the same name) is Ender, so that is very promising. Kid can ACT. I only ever read the first book, and can't remember anything that would now ping my wtf? senses, so I'm crossing my fingers that it won't disappoint when re-familiarising myself. *

I read a least a couple of the sequels, and I've read a couple of his other books. I like the set up of his "Alvin Maker" series, and enjoyed the first couple books but dude just kept bringing more and more of the crazy. I tried to reread those a couple years ago and realized that there was more of the crazy even in the earlier books than I remembered. But I'm hoping you're right about Ender!

And I shall cross my fingers for Ender's Game. *is hopeful*
