elisi: Edwin and Charles (Miss M by kathyh)
Miss M (12). The other day she talked about the 'dumb blonde' stereotype. She figures that because men 'like blondes', blondes probably wear more makeup etc in order to play on this, and use it to their own advantage.

~~~
Impish Girl (10). She complained about a song she'd heard, with the chorus 'Bring out the women and the cars and the cards'. Partly because it's illogical, and also because 'We're not slabs of meat!' [sic]
~~~

Both of them are very fond of NCIS, and their favourites are Ziva and Abby because they're AWESOME. (They also like Ducky.) We've also let them watch Black Books, which they find HILARIOUS, although the main 'lesson' from their POV is that 'Girls are the ones who tell the boys what to do', thanks to Bernard and Manny being daft and Fran telling them what for.

~~~
Last night the Cherub (5) wrote a story on the computer. I helped her with her spelling, and added a few fullstops, but other than that this is all her own work:
one day there was a little girl and she was called lily rose. it was winter
and it was cold and she went outside and she made a snow man
and then she went back in the house and she got a drink. when she
went upstairs she played with doctor who toys and she went downstairs.
then she got a drink then it was her tea time then it was her dessert
then it was her bed time. good night. the end
Who'd have thunk that Piers Morgan would ever be good for anything? (Jeremy Clarkson once suggested that he should be put on the Fourth Plinth, since he is indelible...)
However, this is priceless:
Christine O'Donnell walks off interview
(Link goes to Ta-Nehisi Coates, so there is both awesome commentary and comments! Youtube here.)
Apparently, a teflon-coated sleaze bag is what you need for dealing with Tea Party people. *g*
elisi: Edwin and Charles (My Immortal by ruuger)
Have yet to watch ep 6 of Miracle Day, but for anyone wondering what the impact of that story is on my 'Immortal' verse, it's mostly that the Slayers are having an absolute field day, wiping out vampires (and other assorted nasties) as quickly as they can. Immortality + accelerated healing powers = nigh on invincibility. (The Council is of course trying to work out what lies behind the miracle, but since Jack & co are presumably going to solve it, they will be unsuccessful.)
The vampires OTOH are very worried that they can't turn people, and are realising that they're on the way to becoming an endangered species. Other demons are on the whole just keeping to themselves, and annoyed that they can't move to a different dimension.
(By the way, the next chapter - second to last - is hopefully coming next week.)
elisi: Edwin and Charles (They were Torchwood by casett)
Torchwood was always Jack's story. (And the story of Jack's people.)
Miracle Day isn't. It's just a story that happens to have Jack in it.
(He might be pivotal to events, but so far? It's not his story. Not even close. And hey, that's fair enough, it's Rusty's show, he can do what he wants. Although it does please me how (as always) I can see him as a mirror to Buffy: 'Oh, poor little lost girl boy. She He doesn't fit in anywhere. She's He's got no one to love.')
