Thank you SO MUCH - I am thrilled and touched and coming over all fangirly! :)

Since I was out for most of today I missed the postman, so after work Darcy went to the main post office to pick up what he thought was a delivery for him (which he's been expecting for days), only it turned out to be a little Illyria for me, plus of course the lovely toy for the baby - he might have been a tad disappointed as I was squeeing and unwrapping! ;)

I've got quite a little collection now - Illyria is already keeping Giles, Anya and Spike company on top of the bookshelves. Oh - and Impish Girl thought she looked nasty, but Little Miss M said nice, so Darcy explained that 'She was a former hellgod who parasitically invaded and took over the body of a sweet young girl, so she was most certainly nasty!'. He might not be fannish, but he certainly knows his stuff. *g*

Anyway - it's been said before, but I'll say it again - LJ has the wonderfullest people in the world! ::hugs::

December 4th is Live Journal Where I Live Day.

This is a day where we want as many people on LJ as possible to post pics of - wait for it - where they live. Anything from one or two to twenty - it's up to you! Frimfram has written a long post - giving details of how to post pics if you've never done it before, and giving some suggestions of 'things to snap' if you need ideas - read it here - http://www.livejournal.com/users/frimfram/42091.html?#cutid1

You don't have to give away where you live if you don't want to - post a couple of difficult to spot pics, but for most of us it is a chance to get some ideas about places we have never been. If you don't have any way of putting pics on your journal you could just link to a few pics on line!

[livejournal.com profile] frimfram wonders would you rather put the pics on your own journals, or have a community for it? Let her or I know.

Now go and spread the word via your journal so that your friends can also join in - lets see how far we can get those ripples across this enormous LJ pond!

Today was a very important day for Little Miss M. She (along with 6 other children in Year 2) had been chosen to participate in the Remembrance service at the police station's cenotaph. Each child accompanied a police officer; the officer laid a wreath, the child a cross. Little Miss M has been incredibly excited about this all week, and has been telling me all about the Great War, poppies and memorial ceremonies.

Of course we went to the service this morning and I found it very moving - it was cold and windy and grey, the vicar was hardly audible, the crowd not very large (50 people maybe), but it just felt right. It wasn't big and flashy and pretentious, not trying to 'make it special'. It was just honest. I don't really have the right words for describing it, except that the children were all incredibly sweet and made it all very poignant and moving.

Anyway, this afternoon Little Miss M and the girls from next door did some drawings all about Remembrance Day. So here is what an almost-seven-year-old thinks. Behind a cut to spare your space.
