It occurred to me last night that the rest of the world doesn't get to see our adverts. And this is very sad, because some of them are just awesome. My current favourites are the ones for Moneysupermarket. The top two under the cut. Awesomeness doesn't come much better.

Very cute!!!! Your epic builder reminds me of the diet coke ad that ran several years ago. https://youtu.be/TdrE1VMxzoE
Thanks for sharing!!

And yeah, Diet Coke really hasn't changed their adverts much... I'm sure I've seen that in many different guises. (I love how the epic builder subverts everything.)

This is one of my faves, an old one but good, the Rolo elephant!

And here's an even older one - the KitKat Peace & Love one:

British Television
Re: British Television
That's not a sentence you see every day!
I saw the EpicStrut commercial while watching a few shows and seriously lost my shit.
I love all of them, but that one's special. <3
And totally my pleasure - I hoped to brighten people's day! :)

I love the first one, especially the reactions of the people in the streets.

This, exactly. :)

I also loved the Kit-Kat PEACE!AND!LOVE! one.
The Daleks get me every. single. time.
My fave advert is from a long time ago, the 80s, for Heinz spaghetti.
I've not seen or heard of that one. Sounds v. cute. :)
April So Far
Also love these ones:

Re: April So Far
I'd never use them, but I much prefer good adverts to interrupt my programmes than bad ones. :)

I wouldn't say that. But the adverts definitely subvert gender issues on a massive scale - which is why they stand out so much. I guess the difference is that Brits love to poke at any kind of stereotype.

Example?
I often found Monty Python hilarious, but Saturday Night Live has always been a bit hit or miss for me.

Mind you, a lot of British comedy is just stupid jokes and double entendres. But definitely biting.

Damn I wish my country wasn't so silly and uptight in OHSOMANYWAYS!!

My favourite at the moment is the Lloyds one especially the scene with the bride and her dad, near the end.

And I don't think I've seen the Lloyds one. Will look out for it. (Although Lloyds are generally rubbish. Bleurgh, banks.)

I am very rarely persuaded to buy anything by the adverts - but there are quite a few that make me resolve to never buy what they advertise!
The Lloyds one I like ( at least as much for the music as for the pictures and story) is the 250 years one - doesn't have much effect on my choices though as I've banked with them for about 30 years anyway.
*I would definitely have voted for the New Zealand Bakery of the year if I'd been able to...

I have a high silliness threshold.

This.

I like horses. Horses are nice, and nothing like evil money-grabbing banks. I think I might despise Lloyds. (We bank with them too, or at least we used to. I can't remember anymore.) It's a bit like how Sainsbury's used the Christmas Truce to sell chocolate. Although at least there was a link there, and they gave some money to charity. (Sorry. But I have a problem with banks.)

Now THAT is adorable.

I've been thinking about what annoys me so much about the 'Brian' ad in particular, and I realised it was because we complain, rightly, about the objectification of women, and so we shouldn't condone it when done to men, even if it is tongue in cheek. The pole dancing one is better, from my point of view, simply because it has, in the main, replaced the Brian one!
But really nothing can beat the Guinness rugby ads or the New Zealand baking one, so the rest should just give up trying :)

I don't know that he's objectified, although I can definitely see your point.

LOL.

And I think you'd enjoy this Finnish ad that gives a twist to the cliche'd "their eyes meet at a coffeeshop" ad:

And oh, that's a lovely twist. Thanks for sharing! :)
