HI LJ!

It occurred to me last night that the rest of the world doesn't get to see our adverts. And this is very sad, because some of them are just awesome. My current favourites are the ones for Moneysupermarket. The top two under the cut. Awesomeness doesn't come much better.

I think those ads are a bit 'marmite'. I hate them and if I even needed such a site I would avoid that one on principle!

My favourite at the moment is the Lloyds one especially the scene with the bride and her dad, near the end.

That's the marmite thing - they go over the line into stupid for me.*

I am very rarely persuaded to buy anything by the adverts - but there are quite a few that make me resolve to never buy what they advertise!

The Lloyds one I like ( at least as much for the music as for the pictures and story) is the 250 years one - doesn't have much effect on my choices though as I've banked with them for about 30 years anyway.

*I would definitely have voted for the New Zealand Bakery of the year if I'd been able to...

Well, of course, the Lloyds one is all about 250 years of black horses because it has been their logo for most, or possibly all their 250 years.

I've been thinking about what annoys me so much about the 'Brian' ad in particular, and I realised it was because we complain, rightly, about the objectification of women, and so we shouldn't condone it when done to men, even if it is tongue in cheek. The pole dancing one is better, from my point of view, simply because it has, in the main, replaced the Brian one!

But really nothing can beat the Guinness rugby ads or the New Zealand baking one, so the rest should just give up trying :)
