Icon is v. appropriate, as it is actually snowing right now!

Which is crazy, because it's been practically warm, recently. (Like... 12 degrees the other day? Celsius, obvs.)

Hope you all had/are having a lovely Christmas.

We spent yesterday with family (and watched Frozen - in-laws had never seen it), and spent today being supremely lazy and watched the Doctor Who Christmas Special (it was Doctor Who does Inception, but with Santa Claus and loveliness ♥ ♥ ♥), the LEGO movie, the 2nd & 3rd Harry Potter films (The Cherub got these for Christmas - as in, the whole box set with all the films), and now we're watching The Big Fat Quiz of the Year. (Mel B is on one of the teams - I always manage to forget just how Northern she is. As in, she might as well have 'Leeds Lass' tatooed on her forehead. Reminds me of some of Darcy's cousins. And... Well, lots of people generally. They dun't mak' 'em like that down South!)

Present-wise, then I got lots of lovely books (I am currently reading Watching the English: The Hidden Rules of English Behaviour, which is absolutely fascinating and whereby wholeheartedly recommended), a necklace of Seven's TARDIS key from [livejournal.com profile] the_redjay ♥, some gorgeous pencils from [livejournal.com profile] kathyh, pretty heart-shaped decorations from [livejournal.com profile] the_royal_anna, and from Darcy a tablet (a Hudl, which is an Android-based tablet). It is SO SHINY and I love it very much. (I have never had anything like it - my phone cost £20 and can basically make calls and sends texts, and I have never wished for a smart phone, I think they're fiddly. But this is just gorgeous and I can read LJ on it and stuff. I feel very very lucky.)

We got Miss M a tablet also (which is where the idea came from - I suddenly realised this would be a lovely thing, but didn't know what Darcy was planning), Impish Girl (for her main present) got an electric guitar (eBay is a wonderful thing), and the Cherub got a Wii drum set, with a Beatles practice... thing, so our house is very musical.

But I'll go back to the family & be sociable, just wanted to check in. Oh, and at some point [livejournal.com profile] the_redjay and I might post fic. Not just yet, but maybe around New Year. Like, a chapter-a-day fic. :)

I'm avoiding spoilers; the special is on my DVR. It's snowing madly here so I should get to watch it in the morning! I doubt I'll be going anywhere.

But glad to hear you liked it, and also that you guys had a great christmas!

Also warm here but WINTER IS COMING. Fast and cold, apparently. Anyway =P

Merry belated Christmas! ♥ Sounds like a lovely time, and some lovely gifts! Love the girls' :) Your tablet sounds great too, I'm like you as far as technology and phones are concerned but I still love the hell out of my e-reader. Reasonable amounts of it can be very sweet :)

Lots of love :)

OH DEAR. House of Stark, I salute you.
This! ;P

I have the loveliest family/in=laws, so yes. :)

It's this small, handheld portable shiny THING that has LJ and gmail and chat and music and stuff, and I still can't believe it's mine. Like... that I get to keep it.
Hahaha, I get the feeling completely :D

Lots of love to you too - hope you had a wonderful Christmas. ♥
Thaaaanks! ♥

Here it was also warm first and then suddenly cold and snowing. As long as it is snowing now I am happy, but I want to fly to Glasgow (panto! John Barrowman !) on January 1st, so no snow then, please.

Just posting to show off my very similar icon ;)

Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas. It was rainy here, mild as spring, which I will take over snow any day.

I loved the DW special! I hooe you write up a meta for it. It was so incredibly layered, even by Moff's standards. It's going to be a long wait until season 9.
