Icon is v. appropriate, as it is actually snowing right now!

Which is crazy, because it's been practically warm, recently. (Like... 12 degrees the other day? Celsius, obvs.)

Hope you all had/are having a lovely Christmas.

We spent yesterday with family (and watched Frozen - in-laws had never seen it), and spent today being supremely lazy and watched the Doctor Who Christmas Special (it was Doctor Who does Inception, but with Santa Claus and loveliness ♥ ♥ ♥), the LEGO movie, the 2nd & 3rd Harry Potter films (The Cherub got these for Christmas - as in, the whole box set with all the films), and now we're watching The Big Fat Quiz of the Year. (Mel B is on one of the teams - I always manage to forget just how Northern she is. As in, she might as well have 'Leeds Lass' tatooed on her forehead. Reminds me of some of Darcy's cousins. And... Well, lots of people generally. They dun't mak' 'em like that down South!)

Present-wise, then I got lots of lovely books (I am currently reading Watching the English: The Hidden Rules of English Behaviour, which is absolutely fascinating and whereby wholeheartedly recommended), a necklace of Seven's TARDIS key from

the_redjay ♥, some gorgeous pencils from

kathyh, pretty heart-shaped decorations from

the_royal_anna, and from Darcy a tablet (a Hudl, which is an Android-based tablet). It is SO SHINY and I love it very much. (I have never had anything like it - my phone cost £20 and can basically make calls and sends texts, and I have never wished for a smart phone, I think they're fiddly. But this is just gorgeous and I can read LJ on it and stuff. I feel very very lucky.)

We got Miss M a tablet also (which is where the idea came from - I suddenly realised this would be a lovely thing, but didn't know what Darcy was planning), Impish Girl (for her main present) got an electric guitar (eBay is a wonderful thing), and the Cherub got a Wii drum set, with a Beatles practice... thing, so our house is very musical.

But I'll go back to the family & be sociable, just wanted to check in. Oh, and at some point

the_redjay and I might post fic. Not just yet, but maybe around New Year. Like, a chapter-a-day fic. :)

It was a very lovely Christmas indeed, and the presents keep being shiny.

And oh, I'm good at tuning out the noise. We already have a piano, two guitars, a ukulele and a flute (the latter two being Impish Girl's).

Wow, you've got quite a musical household. Lucky you've learned to tune it all out. ;)

I forgot about the trombone (Darcy's - he used to play it when he was younger), and we also own a trumpet, although Impish Girl never really took to that, so we will probably sell it... And yes, very musical. (My father-in-law was a music teacher, so Darcy grew up with music & instruments. And When he was a boy he was a chorister at Westminster Cathedral.)

I don't mind snow (it's very pretty) as long as I don't have to get to work. (We went for a lovely walk on Saturday in the woods, and the snow was gorgeous. But I hope it's all gone by the time the holidays are over.)
