The state of my foot.
So I went to A&E this morning. And I've got to hand it to the NHS - I was in and out within the hour. Am impressed. (Good, friendly service too!)
Anyway, they did an x-ray of my foot, looked at it (the x-ray) and said I had a tiny fracture. The upshoot is that now I'm wearing one of these:

Mind you, it's a lot better than a pot! But my mobility is rather restricted. So, since I have TIME (and can't move easily) and also have Netflix - is there anything I MUST watch? (Or read, for that matter.)
Note: Am already reading GoT (have sort-of started book 4, am pacing myself now), and am not interested in watching the show. (Never say never, but the books are enough for me.)
Plans so far: An Unearthly Child, The Daleks, The Edge of Destruction. (I have these on DVD!) Also Press Gang. ETA: And House of Cards, which is on Netflix. Actually, that might be plenty for now...
Background: Saturday morning, at the crack of dawn, the cat decided he wanted to get out and went 'Letmeoutletmeoutletmeoutletmeout' (well, he went 'Miaow! Miaow! Miaow! Miaow!, but it was obvious what he wanted) and - as I was obviously the only one who could hear him - I decided to let him out before he started tearing holes in the carpet to attract further attention.
What I learned: Do not walk down stairs when you are not awake. Because you might think you are at the bottom when you are not. And then you'll end up in a painful heap on the floor and your foot will hurt.

In the meantime, I'm squeaking & flailing a bit at your watching choices, though. I love the original team TARDIS (though I know those opening serials in particular can be hard going) and adore Press Gang and Lynda Day. It was the teenage show of my heart & it's still pretty awesome. (S1 is a little more of an obvious teen show, but stick with it, it only gets better & it's not as if S1 doesn't have some great episodes - "A Night In" for starters.) But if you like it and need to flail at anyone, I volunteer! Come back here and waffle at me! I am totally up for any Lynda Day appreciation going. ;-)
Anyway, if you're going to be stuck with such an inconvenient thing, catching up on TV like that sounds like a good way to make the most of it. I used some of my being ill to watch BBC Shakespeare and then it felt as if I'd accomplished something I really wanted to do. So, yeah. *hugs*
(Even though you don't really seem to need recs, if you want a probably too obvious one - have you watched OUaT already? That ought to be on Netflix and it's very easy-going as well as being fun and playing with fairy tales being both very meta and completely cracky, as well as surprisingly awesome on the different relationships, especially the non-romantic ones. It's a bit Disney to start, but it really does get pretty wonderful. You can go through it like a box of chocolates, given access and time on your hands.)
Either way, sorry to hear about the injury. The TV you've decided to apply in self-defense, though, sounds awesome. ;-)

I have just finished An Unearthly Child, and would you know it, it is EXTREMELY relevant to my current interests. (i.e. 'Listen'. *g*)

I've watched a good few episodes already, just got out of it because... life. So I've seen A Night In (oh god, that rabbit costume. I will never recover!) and am aware of the awesomeness that is Lynda Day and ready for more! :D

That's an idea. If I can get hold of them.

No I have not, and it is not on Netflix... People keep talking about it, but I'll leave it for now.

Well, it was getting better, and now they put a boot on it's FAR more awkward... Ah well, TV here I come.

Enjoy Ian & Barbara and the orignal flavour Who team. It's a great DVD set too. Loads of interesting extras.

And I have just finished An Unearthly Child, so am enjoying already! :)

is there anything I MUST watch?
My first thought was classic!Who, visibly you're already on that. ^_^ Great choices! Thought of GoT but I get you about preferring the books, I haven't seen all the show myself. Enjoy book 4 :)

Are you into quiz shows? There's "Pressure Pad" with John Barrowman at the BBC every day at the moment. It's quite funny.

And... I'm trying to actively avoid daytime TV. *g* But I might check out JB. Because JB. ;)

Hope you'll get better soon, and tumbling down the stairs is a very scary thing, could be worse. Please be careful! (hug)
And your DVD watching plans look great. :)
I've been watching the 3rd Doctor years bit by bit and Pertwee is a delight. I like him more than Tom Baker so far, heh-heh. :) (Ugh and #12 and 8th season caught up with me before I could process 11 properly)

Well, here's to hoping the boot sorts me too! It's inconvenient, but at least I know where I am with it. :)

Thank you! <3 (I didn't fall far. Like - one or two steps.)

Well I might as well use my time constructively. (An Unearthly Child is seriously a must-see re. Listen. So the silver lining is shining bright.)

As I've only seen a couple of episodes with either, I don't have a preference. (Although of the Classic Doctors Seven is my favourite.)

Well 11 will always be there. There are just... a lot of layers. It's more getting your head around the differences in storytelling - Moffat is very different from RTD. (See this quote, or see this post I wrote about all the layers.)

This probably falls foul of your “no daytime TV” restriction, but for less plotty filling in the corners I fell heavily for QI several years ago after someone introduced me with the “They say of the acropolis where the parthenon is” clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX5WavWy2t0

I could give you tons of suggestions for both reading ad viewing but they would mostly consist of anime and manga. I am woefully behind in other types of reading and viewing. Though now might be a time for a rewatch of Buffy, Angel or Firefly if you're feeling nostalgic.
When I was recovering from foot surgery I took up a new hobby. I started knitting, but if there's anything different you've been meaning to learn, it's a good time to start.
Hope your feel better soon.
and if you aren't adverse to trying anime and/or manga I would suggest Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood as an anime you might like or the Fullmetal Alchemist manga. Both are fantastic and should be available on Netflix or in the library.

Mostly it's just inconvenient... But thank you! <3

I think I've got plenty for now. (And don't think I have enough time for BtVS or AtS - have decided this is a perfect opportunity to go through all the stuff in the bedroom as we've been meaning to rearrange things anyway.)

I can knit, crotchet, and do cross stitch, so in crafty terms I'm OK. ;) (Whether I'm any good, or do any on a regular basis - that's a completely different story. *g*)

Hmmm. Will have a look, although the library is tricky at the moment. Won't promise anything, although considering how much you've been flailing I might have a tentative look.

Staircases should come with warnings!
And thank you! <3
