The state of my foot.

So I went to A&E this morning. And I've got to hand it to the NHS - I was in and out within the hour. Am impressed. (Good, friendly service too!)

Anyway, they did an x-ray of my foot, looked at it (the x-ray) and said I had a tiny fracture. The upshoot is that now I'm wearing one of these:

Mind you, it's a lot better than a pot! But my mobility is rather restricted. So, since I have TIME (and can't move easily) and also have Netflix - is there anything I MUST watch? (Or read, for that matter.)

Note: Am already reading GoT (have sort-of started book 4, am pacing myself now), and am not interested in watching the show. (Never say never, but the books are enough for me.)

Plans so far: An Unearthly Child, The Daleks, The Edge of Destruction. (I have these on DVD!) Also Press Gang. ETA: And House of Cards, which is on Netflix. Actually, that might be plenty for now...

Background: Saturday morning, at the crack of dawn, the cat decided he wanted to get out and went 'Letmeoutletmeoutletmeoutletmeout' (well, he went 'Miaow! Miaow! Miaow! Miaow!, but it was obvious what he wanted) and - as I was obviously the only one who could hear him - I decided to let him out before he started tearing holes in the carpet to attract further attention.

What I learned: Do not walk down stairs when you are not awake. Because you might think you are at the bottom when you are not. And then you'll end up in a painful heap on the floor and your foot will hurt.

Ouch! I'm sorry. I hope it heals up as quickly as is possible. ♥

In the meantime, I'm squeaking & flailing a bit at your watching choices, though. I love the original team TARDIS (though I know those opening serials in particular can be hard going) and adore Press Gang and Lynda Day. It was the teenage show of my heart & it's still pretty awesome. (S1 is a little more of an obvious teen show, but stick with it, it only gets better & it's not as if S1 doesn't have some great episodes - "A Night In" for starters.) But if you like it and need to flail at anyone, I volunteer! Come back here and waffle at me! I am totally up for any Lynda Day appreciation going. ;-)

Anyway, if you're going to be stuck with such an inconvenient thing, catching up on TV like that sounds like a good way to make the most of it. I used some of my being ill to watch BBC Shakespeare and then it felt as if I'd accomplished something I really wanted to do. So, yeah. *hugs*

(Even though you don't really seem to need recs, if you want a probably too obvious one - have you watched OUaT already? That ought to be on Netflix and it's very easy-going as well as being fun and playing with fairy tales being both very meta and completely cracky, as well as surprisingly awesome on the different relationships, especially the non-romantic ones. It's a bit Disney to start, but it really does get pretty wonderful. You can go through it like a box of chocolates, given access and time on your hands.)

Either way, sorry to hear about the injury. The TV you've decided to apply in self-defense, though, sounds awesome. ;-)

Yeouch about your foot.

Enjoy Ian & Barbara and the orignal flavour Who team. It's a great DVD set too. Loads of interesting extras.

I have just finished An Unearthly Child, and would you know it, it is EXTREMELY relevant to my current interests. (i.e. 'Listen'. *g*)

Aw, yes! I hadn't quite thought, but, yes, what a cool jumping in point for An Unearthly Child! (I'm in a minority - the more I rewatch, the more I find it stands up better than The Daleks. The cavemen are a bit... well... *cough* but what the script is trying to do is really interesting - with people from three widely separate time periods who regard each other as aliens/savages, and the fear/insecurity/fight or flight reactions while the only way forward is to overcome those and work together. I also get more amused/impressed each time that despite everything, quite a few of the guest actors are taking it completely seriously. Bless the Great British Character Actor.)

So I've seen A Night In (oh god, that rabbit costume. I will never recover!) and am aware of the awesomeness that is Lynda Day and ready for more!

Oh, cool. :-D And, yes, Colin in that rabbit suit. I mean, Colin generally, but Colin-in-the-rabbit-suit is brilliant.

Well, it was getting better, and now they put a boot on it's FAR more awkward...

Aww. Still, I suppose if that's what was needed... :-/ ♥

Ouch! Sorry about your foot, get better soon! ♥

is there anything I MUST watch?
My first thought was classic!Who, visibly you're already on that. ^_^ Great choices! Thought of GoT but I get you about preferring the books, I haven't seen all the show myself. Enjoy book 4 :)

Yikes! Sounds like your accident could have been far worse. Though a broken foot, now with a clunky boot isn't great. Hopefully it heals fast.

Yikes! Hope you get better soon!

Are you into quiz shows? There's "Pressure Pad" with John Barrowman at the BBC every day at the moment. It's quite funny.
