Just by the way, for anyone disappointed with Mark's review of Lovers Walk, here's a link to Arbitrar of Quality's review. (Same deal: Unspoiled first time viewer, a ton of rot-13 in the comments etc. for those who weren't around at the time. But, uh, AOQ's take on things was... different to Mark's. *g*)

Have barely had a moment for glancing at LJ, but *have* collected a lot of 8.3 links that I'll put up on... monday. Having a nice time with the family, although I'm going juuuust a little crazy from having people around all the time. Also it's not easy to conduct normal conversations when one's head is full of vampires and Slayers. Esp. if they're naked... (incidentally it's the sequel to 'Cavemen' that's making a noise. Funny that. *g*)

That said my head is also full of Firefly since I got 'Finding Serenity' (edited by Jane Espenson) and it is very lovely and lots of fun ('Mirror/Mirror: A Parody' is one of the funniest things I've ever read - it swaps the crews of Serenity and Enterprise. Is it somewhere on the interwebs so I can link people?)

Anyway, here's more AOQ links:

War Stories.
Trash.
The Message.

And finally a belated Happy Birthday to my very dear [livejournal.com profile] wendylouwho! How are you? Everything OK?

Shiny! :)

Watched Doctor Who last night (replay is such a great thing). Loved The Doctor and Martha (and all their various interactions), didn't much care for the plot etc. Just a tad too silly.

Anyway, I seem to remember promising to link to AOQ's Firefly reviews, and I've been a little negligent. Lots of discussions etc - and I'm afraid that I don't join in at all. For me Firefly is quite simply shiny. That's all I need.

Bushwhacked.
Shindig.

ETA: Everyone who loves Spike and Buffy, come here! [livejournal.com profile] stormwreath has in celebration of National Poetry Month created a most beautiful piece of work. Using Yeats' 'No Second Troy' (could have been written for S7, I *swear*!) and perfectly chosen images he's created a look at Buffy from Spike's point of view. Go look:

A tiny slice of my RL. Cut to spare my flist from falling asleep... )

I've worked a little on my BtVS/Doctor Who crossover ficlet (quite possibly worst plotbunny ever), but not even that I've had time to finish. The only thing I've managed to do is begin (re-)posting one of my earliest fics The Summer After on [livejournal.com profile] gen_storyteller (Summary: A few weeks post-NFA Giles meets some old acquaintances. But where do their loyalties lie these days? And what exactly do they want with Giles?).

Oh - and Arbitrar of Quality has started posting Firefly reviews. Knowing the FF verse very well, his reviews are very indepth and interesting, if anyone wants to check them out. I'll probably link to them all, what with there being a sadly limited amount...

Serenity (the pilot).
The Train Job.

Jumping in quickly to link you:

Arbitrar of Quality on Not Fade Away.

And his final thoughts on ATS (and Buffy).

He might have a really weird sense of humour, but at least he seemed to (mostly) get the point of the shows. :)

AOQ is up to ‘Power Play’ now, and I have some thoughts. Only I have very little time, so you just get parts of my response to his post. (And I’m too tired to re-format.) Sorry about repeating lots of stuff.

Arbitrar of Quality loved Smile Time! :)

ETA: I must also rec [livejournal.com profile] redsrule1's wonderful, fabulous A Day in the Life of PuppetAngel: There is a gap of almost an entire day between the early morning fight between Spike and PuppetAngel, and the next time we see PuppetAngel when he is confessing his condition to Nina as she turns into a werewolf at sundown. This story begins immedately after the early morning fight, when PuppetAngel has just instructed Harmony to get Spike a new car.

This is pretty much canon in my head - because anything that funny has to be true! :)

He wasn't too impressed with 'Lineage' (thought a lot of it too dull), but he mostly enjoyed Destiny:

"You mean the fake cup? The make-believe, fairy-tale cup? So what?"
Here's the most effective portrayal so far of the recurring idea that
Angel's been The One for so long that it's become a daily-grind job
that he can't imagine he won't always have. Even if he goes yet
another episode of losing all his important fights. Spike wasn't just
stronger, he had the Eye Of The Tiger.

See - he isn't completely clueless! :)

AOQ didn't like 'Hellbound' (boo!), but I think he's going to *love* the Spangel in S5. From his review:

And clearly television is a bad influence, because characters are no
longer allowed to simply argue and/or find common ground without
viewers reading sexual tension into it. I mention this because Mrs.
Q. said that she half-expected our vampire leads to kiss at the end of
their scene together, which triggered an extended discussion of who
would be the "top" if they got together.

Heh. I told him that traditionally Angel is on top, since obviously he's curious. I can't wait until he gets to 'Destiny'! :)
