ETA: I'm presuming you've seen JB in drag?

Daniel Craig is lovely in a dress, but I'm mostly in awe of the guts it takes to do this kind of thing [and for women! He's a feminist! That's the sexiest]

M-hm. Although in this country drag is... less of an issue. See this and this. :)

I HAVE NOT! (But I will at some point, honest!)
As for why it's less of an issue, read the article I link to in the second post. :)

Also, Guy Pearce and Hugo Weaving in drag. You just can't go wrong.

It's strange not to see drag for the purposes of comedy, which was what I was expecting. I think the expectation does add to the sadness of the whole though.
(My sister has a rant she enjoys about double standards in comedy. All a guy has to do to get a laugh is put on a dress. Women actually have to work at it.)

that is a good point. I think that's why Eddie Izzard stopped wearing drag on stage?

OT: Is hearing Judy Dench's voice making anybody else really, really want a new Bond film? Just me then? Right. In the old days when an agent did something that stupid, he had the good sense to defect! Christ I miss the Cold War.
Or maybe Dench could just lecture us all regularly on various topics of social import in a tone of quiet menace, but the world needs more M.

How is that POSSIBLE?
I mean, I grew up without a TV, and even I had seen a fair few by the time I left home.

Banter. You like banter? Han/Leia is the gold standard by which I judge all shippy banter.

Ok, for the purposes of cultural literacy you mostly just need to know the James Bond cliches, which I think are embedded in people's brains at birth anymore. Most of the franchise is just campy fun and explosions and you could watch a handful of them and get what it's all about. But, seriously, Casino Royale . . . *guh*
Go! Watch! It transcends its action movie origins. The jump in quality from earlier stuff is astounding. I would seriously consider putting it on my list of top ten favorite films.

oh you know how much i love camp
aight, I'll watch Casino Royale tonight

Indeed. You do very much need to go into them in that mindset, though, camp and explosions being pretty much the whole point, rather than a nice garnish.
aight, I'll watch Casino Royale tonight
\o/ Maybe I will too, come to that . . .
bum bum bum bum, bum ba dum dum
