Ok, for the purposes of cultural literacy you mostly just need to know the James Bond cliches, which I think are embedded in people's brains at birth anymore. Most of the franchise is just campy fun and explosions and you could watch a handful of them and get what it's all about. But, seriously, Casino Royale . . . *guh*

Go! Watch! It transcends its action movie origins. The jump in quality from earlier stuff is astounding. I would seriously consider putting it on my list of top ten favorite films.

So, you ought to watch Classic!Bond too. I've talked this over with Darcy, and we point you towards either Dr No (the one that started it all), From Russia With Love (just a brilliant detective yarn) or - if you want to be as Bond-ish as you can get - Goldfinger. Mmmmm, Connery.
