Just a little pimpin'...

Today is World Book Day, in case you didn't know (well it is at our school at least!). The girls got to dress up for school, which was a little complicated since it took forever for them to make up their minds, but in the end Impish Girl went as Martha (from Doctor Who - we have quite a few stories about her, so I figure that counts. And it's better than a Disney princess!). I happen to have a red jacket very similar to Martha's, so that was fairly easy. Little Miss M decided to go as Hermione (The Prisoner of Azkaban was on TV some weeks ago), and we found clothes that were a pretty good fit. And with her hair all wavy she actually looked *very* Hermione-like! (I also made a 'Hogwarts, a History' cover for one of her books, so she can go around pretending to know everything. Which is *so* her.)

Anyway, I have a couple of recs:

Origin Stories BtVS vid by giandujakiss - a brilliant, brilliant look at Slayers, vampires and a certain coat. I love meta vids, and this one will definitely make you think!
ETA: Thoughts by aycheb. Stuff to ponder.

Number of... Spike/Angel fic by girlpire. Very, very original - and funny, moving and insightful too. Enjoy! :)

ETA: I've been forgetting this: One of the most brilliant Doctor Who macros I've ever seen! (And no, it's not a Buffy cross-over one) Spoilers for the end of S3. Oh and it comes complete with the adorable fic rec ever! It will make you smile. Lots. :)

And if you're wondering where the text came from (it is quite possible that I'm the last person in fandom to find out about it, so pardon me if I'm just rehashing old stuff), then the lovely cayendi alerted me to the Captain's Blog on BBCA's Torchwood site. It's basically Jack's diary, written after every episode, and full of delightful gems and brilliant continuity. They're like tiny little canon FitBs, and they're wonderful. The text on the icon obviously comes from the entry post-'They Keep Killing Suzie'. It also has this bit, which just makes me grin a *lot*:

Other Staff issues: Ianto and I stayed back to go over the case files and reorganize the safe. Internal security cameras were temporarily shut down to run diagnostic tests, so there was no monitoring of the Hub for approximately four hours - but there were no security breaches to report. Everything went very smoothly.

(I don't need to cut for S1 stuff, do I? I think everyone's seen it by now, more or less...)

I was nosing around there the other day, and clicked on the 'Play the Torchwood Mission' link and ended up looking at the KKBB entry... where I found Owen's report on the Himalayas!!!!!! I've been wondering for so long what happened, and there it was! I'm going to do a copy&paste job, because I think I *need* to have it in my LJ, because... well it is made of *pure* win. And it's hilarious.
