Had a very lovely day yesterday. The weather was nice (!), sunny & cold, and sea_thoughts and I walked around at least half the walls of York, spent a wonderfully long time in Waterstone's and had lunch at Betty's, where she introduced me to Bettys Blue Sapphire which might be the nicest tea I have ever tasted.

(In return I told her about 'our' brew - as in, we 'invented' it - which is two parts regular tea & one part Earl Grey, and which I realise I should probably tell everyone else about also, because it's lovely.)

And throughout of course was treated to her lovely company & conversation... I have probably put her off Hannibal for good (yes, it is that gory, more actually) - I am halfway through the final season btw, I don't think I ever mentioned it - but she immediately grasped the main points. Fandom friends are smart. :)

OK, I am running out the door to work, but just wanted to make a post before the day swamped me.

Well, to just explain one of my thoughts... it's gory because the metaphors manifest physically. Will (and everyone else) gets taken apart mentally, but that bleeds through to real life, hence everyone getting cut open/broken in various ways.

Heh, all I know is that you see a lot of things I don't. I am a very literal person and a hell of a lot of metaphor just goes straight over my head. I can know I like something but, analytical as I am, I just can't put my finger on why.

I don't want you to feel like I'm pressuring you, because I know what that's like! But I would be really interested to see what you have to say about Hannibal. :-)
