:)

Had a very lovely day yesterday. The weather was nice (!), sunny & cold, and [personal profile] sea_thoughts and I walked around at least half the walls of York, spent a wonderfully long time in Waterstone's and had lunch at Betty's, where she introduced me to Bettys Blue Sapphire which might be the nicest tea I have ever tasted.

(In return I told her about 'our' brew - as in, we 'invented' it - which is two parts regular tea & one part Earl Grey, and which I realise I should probably tell everyone else about also, because it's lovely.)

And throughout of course was treated to her lovely company & conversation... I have probably put her off Hannibal for good (yes, it is that gory, more actually) - I am halfway through the final season btw, I don't think I ever mentioned it - but she immediately grasped the main points. Fandom friends are smart. :)

OK, I am running out the door to work, but just wanted to make a post before the day swamped me.

Eee, I watched Hannibal earlier this year too! I'd put off watching it because of all the gore but thought I'd give it a go as I was role-playing with a Hannibal and, oh my god, Mads Mikkelsen... The charm of that man! I mean, I always have had a bit of a thing for the bad boys but, wow. I mean, the rest of the cast is amazing too, and the writing and direction are lovely too but... Yeah. I got totally seduced by that show. :-)

Ooh, I love your icon and the comparison with Angelus! I shall look forwrd to that post! :-)

And how interesting that you weren't seduced in the same way, but still seduced nonetheless. :-)

LOL, yes, I can see that the whole majectic imagery of it is very much your sort of thing! It's a lot more arty-farty than I'm normally drawn to, but somehow it seemed to just work for me too.

...Damn it, I want to rewatch Hannibal now, and I haven't got time - I'm too busy rewatching Torchwood, and Criminal Minds, and catching up with Peaky Blinders (which I'd also put off watching but am also now hooked on)!

Yes. Yes, that's a great way of putting it. It's all a part of it. The whole thing is overblown and consciously poetic and full of imagery and double meanings - it's definitely not an afterthought but what makes it what it is.

Yes, exactly! It's all very deliberate and cohesive.

Ooh, that’s interesting. Yes, I think I get that!

See, I knew you’d be the right person to decode that all for me! :-D

Heh, all I know is that you see a lot of things I don't. I am a very literal person and a hell of a lot of metaphor just goes straight over my head. I can know I like something but, analytical as I am, I just can't put my finger on why.

You often can. :-)

I don't want you to feel like I'm pressuring you, because I know what that's like! But I would be really interested to see what you have to say about Hannibal. :-)

I didn’t watch Hannibal as I didn’t fancy the gore but it has a large following!

I must try your personal tea brew - it sounds such a good idea.

Went to Granada in March this year with my parents, it's an amazing city, especially the old town aka the Albyacín. We were able to stay in a hotel right on the edge so we could explore it by walking.
