An actual update
I suck at RL updates, but since stuff has actually been happening - here you go! :)
First of all, the second eldest (Impish Girl, just turned 18) got into drama school! She'd been going to lots of auditions and managed to get on the waiting list for *one* uni, so had resigned herself to just taking a year out and working, but no! Someone dropped out and the place is hers! She is very excited (and somewhat stunned), but come September she'll be off. She has a friend studying there already, which will be a massive help, since she'll have someone to show her around.
Moving on, the eldest (Miss M, 20) got a place at Cambridge two years ago to study Philosophy. She started autumn 2017, but returned after a single term. It was very much not the place for her. She then began volunteering with a conservation charity, planting trees and laying paths and building fences and such (and getting involved with the Climate Change marches), and enjoying wood crafts, whittling little figures and generally just taking a break. But maybe her little sister's sudden move (they're very close) prompted a change, because she decided that she'd like to study art. (Which she has always loved, much like me, except her GCSE teacher was truly awful and put her off for a long time.) So I suggested a Foundation Art course (a one year course where you try lots of different things and which prepares you for university study - I did one back in the day and we spent last Monday night going through my old port folio to see what sort of stuff was involved) - especially as we run one at the college where I work. And since I work there, and sorting out applications is literally my job, in less than a week she has had an interview, been offered and now has a place to start in September. :) She is now busy starting her Summer Homework, having carried off a large pile of our art books to her bedroom this morning.
So as not to leave the 'little one' out of it (The Cherub, 13), she has just done her grade 3 on her violin and will be doing Triple Science for her GCSEs. They're all very creative, but she's the one with the maths-genes. ;)
That's all for now, I need to get some breakfast.

Thank you. As we were away I pretty much forgot it was my birthday :) The trip was lovely, we had a wonderful time and came back completely exhausted from all the sight seeing.

ETA: Also been posting Because Cavemen Have Fire to AO3, and the sequel is getting a bit of a make-over. Would you be able to glance over it? Nothing major, mostly just reassurance that it works.
(If not, don't worry. Just figured I might as well ask?)

:)
I think it'll mainly be Chapter 1 and Chapter 4 of the sequel that'll need a look over, and since I have yet to finish writing the additions to Chapter 1... I guess we'll see. (I post every Saturday, so there 1 1/2 weeks until that chapter needs to be ready.)
It's causing somewhat cognitive dissonance to delve into it again whilst wallowing in Good Omens fluff, but it's probably healthy to balance things out.
