Because this is what I do, every time, every day, every second. This.

DoWntime has come through again, and how:

BIT OF ADRENALINE, DASH OF OUTRAGE: Our Thoughts on “The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos” and Series 11 Wrap-Up — Part 1/2

BIT OF ADRENALINE, DASH OF OUTRAGE: Our Thoughts on “The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos” and Series 11 Wrap-Up — Part 2/2

(They go through EVERYTHING: the characters, the villain, Themes and Motifs, Diversity and Representation, Marketing, Politics, Ethics and Aesthetics and The Discourse Problem. If you want to know what I think, just read those posts.)

Alternatively, here is the shorter version, as [personal profile] propergoffick put it here (spoilers in post!):

'And you get this Doctor who you know in your soul votes Lib Dem, recycles, and gets properly annoyed about what Nigel Farage said in the paper the other day, but doesn't do anything about huge systemic problems. She fixes the very specific problem in front of her and leaves well alone. J. K. Rowling in space and time.'

ETA: I *want* Thirteen to be wonderful and amazing and her companions to have fabulous depth and for there to be story-arcs and something to sink my teeth into. But there isn't.

In other news, I have almost finished S22 and may write up some thoughts on that! Six is my darling and I luff him to pieces. ♥

If you like Six he’s brilliant on audio and some of the early Big Finish stories are really cheap now.

The website is enormous and they have many ranges and characters. If I’ve done this right this

https://www.bigfinish.com/ranges/released_reverse/doctor-who---the-6th-doctor-collected

should take you to the earliest Six adventures. Don’t necessarily start at the beginning (the numbers refer to Big Finish releases not just Six). I’m fond of The Marian Conspiracy, which is a historical, but Jubilee is a wonderful one. Selenak has some posts about Big Finish which you might be able to find through her tags. I haven’t listened to any for a while so I’m not up on the newer adventures of Six but even the BBC Radio 4Extra website might have some as they broadcast some Big Finish audios.

Do they tie together? Or are they more like standalones?

I think the early ones are standalones but later on I think it got a lot more complicated. I haven't listened for ages but I think Companions switched between Doctors and there may be other links. If you've got a list I should go with that! I actually find Big Finish a bit overwhelming now as there is so much stuff on the website though I really ought to get my act together and try out their River Song series.

Just so you know, if you happen to have Spotify, they have the first 50 episodes of the main range (which includes a fair amount of Six audios) as well as the first season of The Lost Stories (stuff that got written but not made for the TV series, and the first season is all Six), so you can listen to early stuff from there. That's what I'm doing at the moment; after that it'll be easier to decide which ranges/Doctors/companions/stories I want to start buying. :-)

(You need to have the paid version of Spotify for this to work out, since I think the free version only lets you listen on shuffle? And obviously that doesn't work so well for audio drama. On the other hand, you can get one month of free try-out...)
