I understand it's frustrating, I just don't get why everyone is expecting this particular story to fix that. I guess it was yet another story that *didn't* fix it...
ETA: Additional thought (and I'm sure you know all this, I'm dragging it out because it struck me) - Moffat did not include any gay characters in S5. It wasn't deliberate, it just didn't strike him. But when it was pointed out to him, he immediately rectified it in S6, including several great gay characters, none of whom were defined by their sexuality.
How come JK Rowling (who apparently has very diverse casts in her adult novels) hasn't done anything like the same? It's disappointing.
That is a very good point about Moff as opposed to JKR (but oh my God, can you imagine the flames that would occur if you pointed it out?)
The article was interesting; I just get fed up of people throwing around the term "queerbaiting" because that's a very specific thing (especially when it comes to Remus and Tonks). I do understand that the continued lack of official gay characters in the HP universe is disappointing and also puzzling given JKR's other works.

I do understand that the continued lack of official gay characters in the HP universe is disappointing and also puzzling given JKR's other works. I'm a little like Moffat - back when I was reading them, I didn't notice what wasn't there. So I'm as guilty as anyone. Here's to improving!

He could certainly be bi. Tonks could be bi. Tonks could even be pansexual! I see so much bi-phoba and bi-erasure when it comes to Remus & Tonks's marriage. So bisexuals never have long-term relationships with members of the opposite sex? Excuse me while I roll my eyes so hard they fall out of my head. Bringing up Sirius and Remus's relationship really weakened the argument for me as there is so little canon evidence for that pairing. God knows it was popular, God knows people really wanted it to be canon, but it's not. Albus/Scorpius has far, far more basis than Remus/Sirius.
