Early birthday present!

For the past few years I've had an eMac, and - much as I've loved it - it's old and rickety and slow, and I've needed something new(er) for a long time...

So, as Darcy will be away on my birthday (a little over a week away), I got my present early! I am now the owner of a Mac Mini and a wide black monitor and all in all it's all very shiny and wonderful. Youtube vids will play properly and fannish vids are big and gorgeous. And (because Apple is a marvel) Darcy could basically just hook up the two machines and transfer everything. Every file, every bookmark - everything is exactly the same, except faster and bigger and better. This is definitely one of the Best Presents Ever!

ETA: Knew there were things I was forgetting!

1) Watched Prometheus last night. It was... pretty much exactly like the Honest Trailer (major spoilers), but I'm happy to have seen it all the same. 'Twas very well made, even if it didn't make a lick of sense.

2) Watched Merlin tonight, which was Merlin and good entertainment. I'm not sure what the episode was called, but it COULD have been subtitled 'The Army of Shirtless Men'. It's not the reason I watch, but it's nice all the same. *g* Oh and I ADORED
Mordred. His ambiguity *really* worked for me, as did the actor.

That would be Prometheus in a nutshell. :P It was very pretty, slightly terrifying, and completely baffling on every plot level conceivable.

I, uh, yeah. I don't imagine even film school would prepare you to make sense of something that elaborately nonsensical. :P

Oooooooo, fresh shiny! Is there anything like the new tech feeling? No, there is not!

* vicarious flails *

So I get new tech feelings on behalf of other people. So I'm a dork, shut up.

Oh dear, is there actual broken-ness, or is it just that they changed things?

Seconding the endorsement for Mountain Lion. It can act very traditional if you want it to, but if you're willing to go outside your comfort zone, it can really change the way you use your computer in great ways. Like I keep my email program in a full screen that lives . . . it's kinda to the right of my desk top. And whenever I need it I just do a big, four-fingered swipe to the left and it swoops in. And then you swoop it away again. 'Tis like living in Minority Report * g *

I love Mountain Lion! I think you'll be pleased.
