TSE/JE re-watch thoughts.
Soooo, we might have re-watched TSE/JE this evening...
My girls never fail to entertain. Re. Rose at the beginning of TSE, Impish Girl had this to say: "Ooh I'm just going to rip a whole in time and space, cause that's the best thing to do if you want to see someone. Lalalalala."
She seems to have got right to the heart of Doctor/Rose. *g* (I tried to explain that it was more complicated, but then Rose went and kinda contradicted me.)
She also expressed a desire to see the Men in Black. (Which would have been better than the American UNIT people, true. Although I loved the upgrade from 'Code Red' to 'Ultimate Code Red'.)
EVERYTHING with Wilf is AWESOME.
And Torchwood... *HEART STILL BROKEN*
Oh and re. the Doctor dying DRAMATICALLY in Rose's arms in the middle of the road, this was Impish Girl's reaction: "This is when Matt Smith should come along, all 'Shut up, I'm dying!' So much better!" *g*
OK, so we skipped the very end of JE (no need to see the sadness of Donna's end), but why do people not like the rest? OK, so it's COMPLETELY over the top and crammed full of EVERYTHING and MAD, but it's FUN and Ten is quite decent there for a while. That scene before they walk out onto the Crucible and he very carefully tells Donna and Jack and Rose that they were brilliant and then steps out to face the music? That's a beautiful scene. As is the bit right after when he's desperate to save Donna. (And the TARDIS is all proactive in keeping Donna inside so TenToo can be born. 'Tis VERY NEAT.) Mind you then Ten goes all emo again, which is a bit of a drawback... Because the thing about Ten is that he's far too good at lying to himself (and good grief, he's SUCH a hypocrite re. TenToo). Here, allow me to demonstrate:

I just can't help but think that if it had been Eleven there with Davros, with River trying to destroy something or other in order to save the day, the whole thing would have fallen completely flat...
Davros: 'LOOK SHE IS A MURDERER BECAUSE OF YOU!'
Eleven: 'And...?'
(Can't help myself. But seriously, imagine if Ten HAD regenerated at the end of TSE. Has anyone written JE with Eleven instead of Ten? I'd read the hell out of that. And no, I'm NOT writing it myself - I've already got the Seeker's version knocking about in my head. There are limits to how many different versions I can write of something. ANYWAY. Ten is waaaay too emo over all his Companions being badass.)
Other random thoughts: This episode again brought home how *incredibly* Earth-centric RTD-Who is. I don't suppose there's anything wrong with this per se, but compare with AGMGTW... Ten is completely focussed on humans, whereas Eleven has friends all over the place.
Oh and OMG the Doctor-worship is off the scale. Jack & Sarah Jane (and Rose) are all 'DOCTOR! I NEED THE DOCTOR!' Mind you it is sort-of balanced with Jackie being all 'I NEED TO FIND ROSE!' and Martha who is a) Focussed on her family, and b) focussed on her mission. Go Martha.
Aaaand I need to go to bed. Plz behave yourself. Thank you. ♥

I love a proper bastard, but... POOR MARTHA! She deserved so much better.

Well that particular fic still only exists in my head (and as a rough draft) and I have LOTS MORE to write before I get that far, so don't worry about it. ;)

Evol *ADORES*
Right? I do love him when he's a bastard...but that was overkill. Gods, she did...*cuddles Martha*
No, no, no. You misunderstand me. I have not yet delved into Seeker or MI because of said Awesome. My poor broken musie/brain/ego canna take it right now. Which is only a testament to the Awesome. Written or not. *Cackles*

*snickers* The Ten icon was in honour of the bastardness... (And now I'm annoyed because I no longer have a matching icon for yours and no time to re-upload it. But consider it used.) Re. this icon, then it was my first EVER Eleven icon (uploaded the day after Matt was unveiled), because people were grumpy and so I liked him just to be contrary (I hate fannish bitching). And because he looked interesting. ♥

Bad Ten. Back in the cupboard.

Oh I got that - I just didn't want you to think that that 'verse was even longer than it is. (Yet.) SO much fic still in my head... /o\

(Ten as Gir is The Funniest Thing Ever! You DO know Invader Zim, right?)
Anyways, don't worry about moping - it's allowed!
*HUGS*

No, sadly (as with many things) I am woefully ignorant. *FAILS*
Is it? Oh good! Thought there were laws...
*Cuddles*

Well I only discovered Invader Zim thanks to Doctor Who. Put it on your birthday list and get someone to buy it for you - the whole family should be able to enjoy it. (It's cult cartoon from Nickelodeon, which was cancelled after 3 seasons. It's WEIRD, but utterly wonderful. And features and insane robot, called Gir. You can hear him in the vid.)
And nope, no laws. Esp not on LJ! :)

Ohh!! *Makes note* Thanks!
Good. Always afraid they're gonna sneak one in on me...O_o

And... *goes to check your birthday* ... omg! Your birthday is one day before mine. (And you're one year younger.) I feel this ought to be significant, although mostly I'm thinking that means it'll be a long time before you get to watch Zim. Ah well, it's worth waiting for. *g*
If I see any try to sneak past, I'll squash them!

AWESOME. Means I'll have a hard time forgetting yours *grins* and one year younger?! Dude. O_o. Nahhhh, I'll find a way to get ahold of it. Trust me. I'm a Dler.
This is what makes you awesome. Well. This and a plethora of other Good Things.

Which is not at all how I ended up watching the whole of it.

Of course not, lol!!

I'm certainly not someone who accidentally ends up watching whole tv shows on a regular basis . . .

Nooo...you don't as well?!

*g* As an old-school fan, I had sort of stopped watching Doctor Who because while I loved large bits of it, there were other bits that just made me depressed. My husband and I were in the bookstore sometime around Christmas, saw the Series Five box set, and basically went, "Hey, why not? I wanna see the new guy, and we can always sell it to a used book store."
And then we watched "The Eleventh Hour."
And then I miiiiight have stayed up late to watch "The Eleventh Hour" again. I mean, I love hyper!puppy!Ten, I adore Martha, Donna is made of win, etc—but this stuff felt like Who, in a way I still have trouble articulating.

And I swear, TEH is like magic... And I don't know how to explain it either, although this review, at the time, did a better job than many others.
