maybe I'm just a negative nancy, but i find it hard to get excited about these things. it's like, 'oh, well, thankyou for finally granting us something that should be a birthright, how *nice* of you!" you know? like, it shouldn't be something that some humans /allow/ other humans to have. it should just BE.

It may also be because I firmly believe that horses (and octopi - ever notice how they share similar sideways-built pupil eyeball architecture?) are alien.

That is good news, and England is quite ahead of the US in that department. I was wondering, do religious and conservative groups put up as much a fuss in England, Ireland, Wales or Scotland as they do in the US about gay marriage ? Or is the modern protestant religions not as diversified as in the US ?

Um. Well the government is conservative, so not much fuss from that side. ;) Different churches might complain, but since they aren't forced to hold gay weddings, it won't impact them directly. And *some* churches - like the Quakers - have been campaigning for gay marriage!

Hmm, US conservative and British conservative must be quite different then. American conservative groups are so influenced so much by the religion conservatives, that it's hard to tell the difference really.

Oh yes. I mean, Obama is more right-wing than our Conservatives... Conservatives here are generally seen as posh and rich - which is pretty spot-on, to be honest. (There is also various working class right wing groups, of course, but they're not religious, just racist.)
