Since I can't watch it - at work. Did he really resign, or just give everything over to his VP, and let the military take control of the state? That's what this morning's paper reported.
That's a great step, but there's a whole new system to build... and that's not the easiest part. Crosses fingers with you that these marvelous promises bloom.
This is such an interesting situation. Of course, we want to support any country that is trying to create a democratic environment. But...it is highly likely that this country is now going to end up being Islamic ruled. I can't really support how women are treated under Islamic rule. I spent time in that part of the earth living in Muslim cities and it's not pretty. Don't even get me started.
I started crying at work this morning when I heard the news. I can't remember a time when I've been so consistently inspired and filled with hope as the last 2 1/2 weeks. JOY. I now pray the joy stays and grows.
The military in power not always ends up happily ever after. *Still quite worried about the museums, and archeological sites with artifacts that have out lived nations and religions. Only to be destroyed in moments of excitment, greed and hatred.* Egypt has done this before, thinking back to student rebellions before and after WW2. Their last king was more likely than not posioned years afterward.
