In *completely* different news (and really I ought to have made another post, but I'm a little rushed and don't want to spam your flists) today is (as Caroline so beautifully put it) Bangel!Boinking!Day, a term which I think puts the whole thing in perspective. *sniggers* (ETA: In case you're wondering, then every day is Spuffy!Boinking!Day. Ahem.)
Also I wanted to mention that I am delighted with the feminist rage that has been unleashed recently, but (being a cynic at heart, apparently) don't think it'll make a blind bit of difference to the story to be honest. However, according to this apparently in this issue the crack gets turned up to eleven. (Couldn't help myself!!!) Favourite quote [bolded bits my emphasis]:
What's interesting is that a lot of things get explained but I still don't have a clue what's going on or why. There are so many layers to this story and the scope is so big that, the more you know, the more you don't.
REALLY? Gosh, well I never!

OK, I'll go now.

Yeah, everything about them is pretty haphazard except their stunning ability to make people not care.
*warning-melodrama ahead-warning*
The thing about them is they're just such a mockery of the show in nearly every way that I can't help but feel less about the show because it's obvious Joss doesn't respect it at all, and he certainly doesn't seem to respect my favorite character. I don't see them as canon--Buffy's chilling on a beach in The Boot--but I still can't help but feel they diminish the show because of that. That's why I axed my fandom journal 'cause I really didn't feel like talking about the show for awhile.
Anyway /random 3am rambling in elisi's journal.

Rather. Although this post might make you smile. :)

Oh I hear ya. I think Joss' brain broke, or something. The upside is that no one outside comics (or hardcore fandom) even knows that s8 exists, so the *show's* status (and Buffy's) in the wider world goes unchanged!

That's perfectly understandable, although you are missed! (Dunno what I'd do if I hadn't found another fandom. Cry, probably.)

Good times! (Rambling is one of my favourite things about LJ!)

Oh, I don't know. To me he's just become resentful of his own creation. But yeah, it's true, barely anyone knows about them. Even just about everyone I knew who reads them in a cracky way are all yeeeeeeeahh, right, Whedon.
Dunno what I'd do if I hadn't found another fandom.
Read a lot! Like me. :P The reason I started this new LJ was because I wanted to join a book-sharing group (much easier than going to the library) and they wouldn't let me have the old one back.

Having read a few reviews, I think he might be doing what many people have done before - used his creation to tell a story/put across a message etc. Unfortunately, I don't think it's *their* story, and in the process he's completely ruined them, because he had to bend them out of shape to make them fit. Meh.

That's about right.

Yeah, that's probably true! *loves books*
