About Spike...
Re. the whole Twilight reveal, and Spike's role...
Bascially I'm hoping they keep him a million miles away from s8. He's got his own series, right? Let him mess around there. Let him marry Beck, or Spider, or Betta George, or something.
(How much would I love for someone to say: "Don't you dare phone him, he's on his honeymoon!" *deep sigh*)
Seriously - don't involve him in the trainwreck. Not that I'm going to be reading, but I was fond of that blond guy once upon a time, y'know? He deserves better than to be destroyed by the s8pocalypse.
(Christ Ryall put up this cover which is amusing me a lot, though.)

*pets it*
I'm just wondering now if Season 8 is what actually sprang into Joss's brain when he turned into the Master and then couldn't eradictate it *g*. Possibly the timeline doesn't quite fit, but when did that ever matter in the Buffyverse.
Oooh, you're on a roll today! And yes, that's the perfect explanation! *g* (The upside to this is that it makes RTD's plots look positively sensible!)
ETA: I know! After Christmas Joss went to Cardiff and the rift sent him back in time 4 years! :)
