Because crack is good for you!
I don't read RPF. It's a genre that quite simply does nothing for me. HOWEVER,
sam_storyteller wrote this, and I will be forever grateful:
On The Run From The Lunar Mafia.
Summary: Gareth David-Lloyd's quiet evening is interrupted by time travel. And robots.
I cannot BEGIN to describe how utterly fabulous this thing is, so instead I'll just leave you with a picture of John and Scott on the day they got Civil Partner-shipped. (Darn that is an awkward phrase.) And *how* did John manage to find a partner who is prettier than himself? It ought to be against the laws on nature.

(Yes I'm procrastinating, why do you ask?)

Which, indirectly, leads me to a somewhat random question -- do English people "appreciate" other accents the way we tend to? Not in the sense of putting them on TV or whatever, but I'd say it's a pretty common opinion that English/Scottish/Australian/whatever accents are sexy. Is there a parallel opinion among English people (read also, "women") that you know of, or is it really just an American thing?

*laughs* I've never gone that far, but that is only because I don't have the time. Have you read JB's book btw?

Hmmm. Well there are a million and one British accents (Scottish, Irish, Welsh, etc), and I very much appreciate Spike's accent f.ex., since it's not one I hear every day, livin' 'Up North' as I do. But yes, I think we do, American ones especially I should think, since they can be very sexy. (I even have a ficlet rec to add. *g* Jack/Ianto porn, and just gorgeous.)

That's exactly what I mean. :-) American accent? *yawn* According to Mapquest, JB grew up a mere 315 miles from my hometown. And I mean the "mere" semi-seriously, but due to the direction of those 315 miles and similar class levels? Basically, he grew up a little outside Chicago, I grew up a little outside Detroit. His accent is almost exactly the one I hear every day and speak with myself. Not especially interesting, except in the fact that nearly every word that's actually pronounced differently in American and British English, he pronounces the British way (for ex, "Ee-strogen" or "Shed-yule"). Which just amuses me.
Scott's accent, on the other hand? Or David Tennant's, for that matter? Mmm.
Up North like Chris Eccleston? Or more like Ant & Dec? As far as I can tell, "up north" means everything more than a few miles north of London, which would suggest most of the country. (Though, honestly, that almost exactly parallels Michigan geography.)

Heee! If youtube didn't hate me so, I'd totally ask for a link... Actually, go ahead. They're very pretty...

So... what about when John uses his original, Scottish accent?

*laughs* That is very true. And I live fairly close to Leeds (not Ant and Dec, oh no), so...
more Christopher Eccleston I suppose.Nah, he's from Manchester. Maybe he tones it down for the Doctor? ANYWAY, I'm in Yorkshire:ETA: How many times have I edited this now? Anyway, Clem in CoE, that's a Yorkshire accent. He's not as cute as the girl in the video though. :)

It's just kind of an odd thought!

ETA: Although we also lived in London for 3 years, and then in York for 3 years (Yorkshire, but 'posh'), so my accent is ALL OVER THE PLACE!

And now you have me reading RPF... what's next? Slash? All-human high school AUs?

I just want to make sure I'm not alone in that special hell... ;)
