Can it really be?

Many thanks to avrelia for remembering - today, 5 years ago, Chosen aired for the first time.

It is a strange anniversary for me, because although it meant the end of the show (which makes me sad), it was also the point that made me turn to the internet and which made me discover fandom. Fic, vids, artwork and all you wonderful, wonderful people - where would I be without you?

Most of us have found shiny new things to play with, even though we still love Buffy. But what's important, I think, is that Buffy is the benchmark, the standard that everything else gets measured against. And that speaks volumes.

(Also it is all I have time for right now. But I still love that show, oh so very, very much. I still remember watching 'The Witch' - the first ever ep I saw - and being impressed with how fun and clever it was. Although it took until FFL to really hook me. And it was the final moments of 'Grave' that sent me spinning into obsession - I can't even *remember* my reaction to the AR...)

Wow. I feel very new. I've only been a fan since December 2005...

But 'new' fans are good! Lots of the old ones have moved on, so we need young blood! (It feels very funny to be considered an 'old' fan, btw - esp since I didn't even get an LJ until after Angel had finished.)

Well, I only started watching Buffy because Serenity wasn't at the movies anymore and I was out of worthwhile shows...

Now you're making me nostalgic for Serenity... (I mean I have it on DVD - obviously - but I remember being so excited to go see it. *sigh*)
