Can it really be?
Many thanks to
avrelia for remembering - today, 5 years ago, Chosen aired for the first time.
It is a strange anniversary for me, because although it meant the end of the show (which makes me sad), it was also the point that made me turn to the internet and which made me discover fandom. Fic, vids, artwork and all you wonderful, wonderful people - where would I be without you?
Most of us have found shiny new things to play with, even though we still love Buffy. But what's important, I think, is that Buffy is the benchmark, the standard that everything else gets measured against. And that speaks volumes.
(Also it is all I have time for right now. But I still love that show, oh so very, very much. I still remember watching 'The Witch' - the first ever ep I saw - and being impressed with how fun and clever it was. Although it took until FFL to really hook me. And it was the final moments of 'Grave' that sent me spinning into obsession - I can't even *remember* my reaction to the AR...)
ETA: All together now: I Miss Buffy The Vampire Slayer...
ETA: My Chosen meta (in case anyone wants to indulge in nostalgia with me). Lots of links at the end. :)

But I agree it is still my #1 fandom - and what led me to the internet ... and thus to LJ and "chatting" to you.
Thanks for the reminder, even though it doesn't mean quite as much to me as a date - still ana mazing episode.

I think that happened to a lot of people! ;)
and thus to LJ and "chatting" to you.
I can't imagine life without fandom & Buffy. *clings*

Same here, although it is nice to have a fixed date to celebrate!

I loved the script, but I prepared myself for the worst. Then I finished downloading (.rm file. about 70 mb, awful quality) watched and decided it was brilliant.

And after seeing it I went to read fanfiction. After knowing that it was the end I started reading fanfiction. Around March 2003. So over five years reading now and still reading :))Made the end of Chosen easier to bear. I saw it right from the begin. (In Germany we're later so I read about the series and was hooked before it started. I've read about it on paper, btw. Did only have Internet since 1999.)

When you put it like that...
Although it was his death that spurred me onto the internet, which was a good thing. (And I found out that he was coming back - that was VERY comforting!)
But I didn't realise it was five years sgo. Why did it go????
Dunno. Seems scarily long. But then I realise that we still lived in York back then, and that feels like forever ago.

Boy do I know that feeling. (Both the no-time one, and the sighing one.)
Goshdarn, I still miss that show so much
Same here. Thank goodness for fandom! *clings*

*laughs* Oh fandom! (This is why, despite loving DW and TW with all my heart, I stay far away from the fandoms. So not interested in all the fighting.)
and decided it was brilliant.
And it is. *loves Chosen some more* Not knowing about fandom then, I never knew I was supposed to criticise everything to within an inch of its life, so I just loved it all - and still do.

A very wise decision!

Where did time go?
After knowing that it was the end I started reading fanfiction. Around March 2003. So over five years reading now and still reading :))
Same here. Although at first I was just reading reviews (Sky One were re-broadcasting all of Buffy, so I was re-watching & recording everything). Fanfiction came after about half a year. And then another half year later I started writing...
I saw it right from the begin.
We saw *most* of it. Didn't watch S3 at the time because 'Becoming' was so angsty and I didn't want my heart broken again.

Compared to me, you're WAY old!

Now you're making me nostalgic for Serenity... (I mean I have it on DVD - obviously - but I remember being so excited to go see it. *sigh*)
Compared to me, you're WAY old!
Heh. Guess I ought to invest in some wrinkle cream! ;)
