Various.

Changed my layout. Partly the pink was getting a bit much, and partly I really needed a Doctor banner... This is not the one I'd ideally use (because my favourite one is rather spoilery), but this one is v. lovely all the same. (It is so incredible to have a shiny new show to delve into... it took three years, but suddenly it started hitting all the buttons that BtVS/AtS used to - in its very own way of course. I never thought that would ever happen again, so I am very grateful. Only now I have 26 seasons to catch up on... Oh and did I mention the breaking of my heart? 'Cause damn!)

Re. LJ de-friending people at random - if I de-friended anyone, just e-mail me and I'll friend you right back, OK? :)

And I need some help. *looks hopeful* Our copy of 'Mere Christianity' has disappeared. Just vanished. So I was wondering if there was anyone out there with a copy who'd be willing to look up a quote for me?

I was sure there was something else, but I'm drawing a blank...

I don't see anything spoiliery in that banner. It's a really lovely shot. You'll have to ditch the mood-theme though.

The carrier pigeon brought the DVD back this morning, thanks.

Oh dear!

Are you gone, then?

I really can't join in the DW squee, I'm afraid. It passes the time but that's about it for me.

I can't get my head round the concept of DW and 'shippers. It's all kinds of wrong. The Doctor just doesn't do sex.

Who is Reinette? I think I must have missed her.

Oh, that episode. I didn't like it, which is probably why I forgot about it.

It passes the time but that's about it for me.

Ditto. The first two episodes premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel last night and I popped in a tape for a flist member and then went off to do a load of laundry. I'd cruise by now and then to see what was going on but it doesn't really hold my interest.

I love the new layout!

It's like your journal became a Tardis or something. Cool! :- )

Oh pretty banner. I'm feeling the Dr Who love more than usual at the moment too. It must be in the air or something *g*.

Love you new banner - and layout. Yes - I love Dr who ... but Spuffy still wins!!

As to the book - I know the name, but I am at Mum and dad's so can't check. Dad also knows it and doesn't have it. One of my brothers may also hav it - so really it depends on how urgently youneed the info. If there is no hurry I should (poss - I haven't asked Nick if he has it!) be able to track it down.

Love the icon.

However - the picture of The Doctor you are using is really poinant ... and Martha has left him!! Poor man!

Right - I will ask Nick when I write ... I have owed him an email for about a week, so will do that later ... and will check myself when I get back home - and let you know.

Thanks - am snagging!

Glad you got your quotes sorted out - I am hopeless at remembering exact phrases myself, even (I hate to admit it) well known Bible verses I sometimes muddle - and as for the actual text numbers ... Arrrgh!!

Oh yes - I am hopeless at everything it would seem, except obsessing... - glad I'm not the only one!!

I can look up a 'Mere Christianity' quote for you. Where is it? Or what does it pertain to?

[identity profile] ezagaaikwe.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
I love that book. It's page 55 in the softcover edition, where he's talking about how incredible Christ's claim (to be the Son of God) is, if he's merely a man:

One part of the claim tends to slip past us unnoticed because we have heard it so often that we no longer see what it amounts to. I mean the claim to forgive sins: any sin. Now unless the speaker is God, this is really so preposterous as to be comic. We can all understand how a man forgives offences against himself. You tread on my toe and I forgive you, you steal my money and I forgive you. But what should we make of a man, himself unrobbed and untrodden on, who announced that he forgave you for treading on other men's toes and stealing other men's money? Asinine fatuity is the kindest description we should give of his conduct. Yet this is what Jesus did.

You're entirely welcome. I'm glad I could be of help.

I need to buy it again, too. My copy is all marked up with pen. I hate buying used books, only to get them home and discover that the previous reader couldn't read without underlining and circling every other word.

Re: I never find interesting used books...

All I can say is http://www.abebooks.com. One Christmas, [livejournal.com profile] papa_sierra got nothing but out-of-print books he'd been yearning for. I'm sure my family thought I was an incredible cheapskate, but Papa was thrilled.

Oh, I like the new layout and the icon!

Your first Dr. usually ends up being your favorite one. For me, it's all about Tom Baker. His Dr. was really my first fandom. I look forward to your commenting on the 26 seasons.

Pretty new layout! I start in on season two TONIGHT! Yay!

'I start in on season two TONIGHT! Yay!'

Apologies for the interruption but OMGZ YAYAYAYAYAY! ::bounces::

Ok, I'm done. ::scampers away::

[identity profile] kittyzams.livejournal.com 2007-07-08 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! Netflix FINALLY got the discs in. However, I ended up staying really late at a wedding reception so I didn't get a chance to watch last night. So! I start in on season two TONIGHT! Yay! *g*

Oh! And I watched CK's Her Minor Thing the other night and thought of you. He was pretty babetastic in it. It's true. ;D

[identity profile] prophcygrl.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Yay! He's so very very pretty. ::squishes DT::

I hope I managed to get all the people that fell of my f-list back. ::shakes fist at LJ::
