beer_good_foamy and I are having a lovely talk over on owenthurman's LJ, but I just had to share his awesome new icon: 
Willow? Is thorough. Bullet. Flaying. Fire. How *exactly* was he supposed to survive that? Small (or not so small) piles of ash can't be re-animated. Skinless wonders who had a bullet tear through them ditto:
WILLOW: It's not going to make a neat little hole. First, it'll obliterate your internal organs. Your lung will collapse. Feels like drowning. [...] When it finally hits your spine, it'll blow your central nervous system. [...] The pain will be unbearable, but you won't be able to move. Bullet usually travels faster than this, of course. But the dying? It'll seem like it takes forever.
You know - this all makes me very happy. The comics have proven themselves to be AU, no matter what Joss says. This is neat. Discussion over. Now please bring on Faith. :)

and yup. AH was actually a little scary in that scene. I have to give this to her. even the guy I was watching this episode with (one of my best friends) was shocked of what had become of his sweet little innocent Willow (his words not mine *g*)
I happily told him, he has to face it. she ended as a bad, veiny, lesbian witch who wanted to destroy the world. he only glared at me.

*nods* Not that I tend to giggle, but it's the thread of pain running through that really gets me. The feeling that she could burst into tears at any moment, but instead she's going to *hurt* the one responsible!
Just such an awesome scene. Joss could never steal that away :P

... I have *not* been paying any attention to the comic series (other than reading yours and others' opinions on it) because IMO from the beginning Joss has just been fanficcing his own story, playing with AU, etc. Nice to have that confirmed. I was taken aback to hear that Warren is supposedly alive. NOT. NO WAY. COULD NOT HAPPEN. So as you say, it's right out there now ... this is obviously AU no matter what Joss says.
And that does make the comix much more fun and less stressful. W00t! I may even take the trouble to read 'em now. ;D

IMO from the beginning Joss has just been fanficcing his own story, playing with AU, etc. Nice to have that confirmed.
I was worried about that too (because Joss does have that tendency, as well as the tendency to throw logic out of the window for the sake of whatever he wants to do. On the show money, producers, actors, fellow writers etc could rein him in to some extent. But now? Not so much...). But he went one ret-con too far this time!

Certainly not the way he seems to be implying. There were interesting theories floating around that Warren could have been resurrected as a byproduct or consequence of the TKiM hex - but alas.
And that does make the comix much more fun and less stressful. W00t! I may even take the trouble to read 'em now. ;D
