Minor thoughts.

For [livejournal.com profile] mikeygs and [livejournal.com profile] swsa. Having actually read the thing now, here are some (positive!) thoughts:

First of all, in issue 1 Buffy misses sex. Ergo, she's not getting any.

Second, the B/X is obviously some sort of Amy-induced ultimate nightmare, and it is terribly painful to Buffy. And when we leave her Guy In Long Black Coat is telling her not to give up...

Thirdly, in the next issue 'Spike and Angel won't just be mentioned - next issue you're gonna get an image burned into your head that I suspect many of you are not gonna want to get rid of.'

Oh pretty please Mr Whedon let there be some kind of oil involved... *g*

Anyway, it's just a comic. And I wish the characters had nametags.

I'll get back to comments, I promise. Just a tad busy at the moment... *runs off again*

You know, I really don't care if Buffy has had sex with Xander on some prior occasion. She can have sex with whoever she wants. For one thing, it's pretty plain to me that if it did in fact happen, it didn't go well and Xander for one isn't keen to repeat the experiment.

Sensible man, that Xander.

That's how I was looking at it. Especially right after the collapse of Sunnydale where Buffy had just lost Spike and Xander had just lost Anya. I could totally buy them getting drunk over it and sleeping together and having it be so bad they never speak of it again.

Actually I could see them going for comfort sex after Sunnydale collapses, waking up terribly embarrassed, and muttering a mutual "Let's never speak of this again, except to make the fans crazy."

Not without Marti looking over his shoulder, no.

Xander for one isn't keen to repeat the experiment.

It's not really his fault considering that Cordelia and Anya never gave him a second chance. But it's a Xander habbit to screw up a relationship. So it's easy to guess why X/B didn't work out, if there was actually a X/B to begin with. Maybe it's all just a wacky dream thing.

See, that's kind of what's really bugging me about this. The fact that all the lusting or what have you seems to be on Buffy's side. From a character standpoint, I just can't buy it. And so it leads me to gross fanboyish conclusions wherein I feel compelled to notice that Xander is drawn as being better looking than he ever was on the show, that he's a man in charge, giving orders, that we've had actual time dedicated to girls crushing on him, and now we have Buffy having Xander sex dreams and an implication that they might have slept together before and that Buffy wants to give it another go, but Xander's not interested. Wow. Maybe he'll get superpowers in Issue 3.

Well, since Xander started out as Joss's Marty Stu in many ways, it's not surprising that he's a big Marty Stu now that Joss has remembered his existence (which he pretty much forgot for most of s7).
