The most amusing thing of this whole 'SHINY NEW DOCTOR EVERYONE IS EXCITED' is scrolling through Twitter and seeing all the people deciding they want to get back to the show, but have heard it's rubbish now, and receiving endless reassurances that 'RTD Is Coming Back, Everything Is Going To Be Amazing Again' and just...
*hands*
I REMEMBER LAST TIME. Fandom hated him. Moffat might as well have been the Second Coming. I wonder how long it'll take for things to turn again. (Not that he cares. *g*)

ANYWAY. If anyone is missing Moffat Who, and timey-wimey shenanigans, they should watch Russian Doll. We finished S2 last week and I'm beginning to recover. Darcy described it as 'Catharsis in a Rubik's Cube', which is absolutely spot-on and genius.
Stay far far away from spoilers, just jump in. It's clever and smart and has awesome female characters and there is zero hand holding.

Oh and S2 might make you cry. It might not seem like it, because there is a LOT going on, but once you realise what it's actually doing it's packs a punch (softly, beautifully).
Warning: The whole thing is basically about trauma (childhood/inter-generational), so please be aware in case that's a trigger. ♥

ETA: Tumblr is reading Dracula (it's a thing where you get emailed a bit every day? Because the book is mostly in a diary format). It's hilarious! Tumblr + Dracula = pure delight

Re: Currently having slightly more time but still not enough
He's in Sex Education where he is absolutely delightful. I can definitely believe that he blew them all away in his audition. But yeah, young and mostly unknown. :)
My one reservation about RTD coming back, is that well, this time we’ll probably have no Moffat afterwards to come do a soft reboot and save us. So if he breaks down Doctor again, if he makes him too miserable, we're doomed! Or at least the narrative is. What shall we do!
LOL! My counter point is that RTD2 will undoubtedly be very different from back then. There is a theory (and I've been meaning to write something about it too), that he has for the past... 20 odd years been trying to deal with the AIDS pandemic through his work. (His Doctor was a lone figure, everyone else had died, and the only other survivor had gone crazy. If you know what to look for, it's pretty obvious.) However, what with It's A Sin, it seems he might finally have exorcised the demons from back then, so what comes next should be hugely interesting.

(Anonymous) 2022-05-10 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)I don't know, he's a nihilist drama queen, he can be self-indulgent, he does enjoy beating the audience with a stick, and I think he's got some weird, dumb views; but gosh darn it, his heart is in the right place, there will be meta, and he can write, so.
I mean, hopefully he *will* be different. Also, okay, other writers apart from Moffat can save us afterwards if he can't resist his old style, lol.

Oh I am SURE of it. But different stuff. I have no idea how it will manifest.

*laughs* I want to frame this description.

You never know, we might be a FEMALE show runner... :O
