So - I went and spoiled myself...

Buffy: “Great muppety Odin, I miss that sex.”

*blinks*

I'm guessing this is Joss' way of saying that Buffy's grieving over Spike?

Now I want to be mad at him for being so ridiculous, but... *shakes head* This is the guy from whom came "I signalled her with my eyes!", which I wouldn't trade for all the world!

And anyway... it's just a comic book! I'm is still undecided... to buy or not to buy...

Mostly - I'm looking forward to all the great stuff that'll be posted and rec'd tomorrow. And Darcy having gone out I'll be able to finish polishing off my Phoenix ficlet. Life is good! Now I must just get children to bed...

Well, despite my firm resolve that I wasn't going to buy it, I caved and put in for a subscription. I got an e-mail from the publisher though that the first issue is delayed until 3/21 because of a printing snafu or something. *shrugs* I'm not that eager for it so, you know, whatever. *g*

you how it is with the spoilers: a phrase can be interpreted a dozen of different ways without a context, and a dozen more in the context. So I would think it's too early to be mad at Joss for this one.

Buffy... she has a way with words... that's not always to her advantage. :)

Besides, it just may confirm that sex with Spike is unparalleled. ;)

Well, everyone can (even you! even Buffy!) can say something late in the night that can be misconstrued. ;)

I'm going to buy it because I can't resist, but I don't care what Joss says, it ain't canon (unless I like it of course *g*). From the spoilers I've read it sounds as if he's let the freedom from the constraints of TV go to his head rather, but I'm still interested in what his vision of the future for the characters will be like.

I have to admit. I kind of "oooh"ed and jumped a bit when I saw that line, in like surprise and disbelief. So, I'm still kind of lost on why people are upset about it. I love it. It's totally shippy. And you can wank it away to be not about Spike, but since everyone's first reaction is "That has to be about Spike", I can't think that we're NOT meant to connect it to him. And I guess I'm shallow or easy to please, because I still don't see the bad in Buffy missing having sex with Spike. Heee.

I am, however, prepared for the possibility that at some point we'll find out that Buffy had a passionate fling with some random Watcher's Council guy 2 months before Issue #1. And at that point, I'll join everyone else in being pissed at Joss. Right now, I'm surprisingly pleased with him.

On behalf of Spike, I'm taking it as a compliment! It certainly doesn't hurt for Buffy to once more confirm Spike's sexual desirability to her. That's always fun to hear. =D As someone who was wasn't expecting jack shit, much less grieving, this shot out actually comes as a pleasant surprise.

"Great muppety Odin, I miss that sex"
Hee! I loved that line, 'cause it's like, Buffy doesn't miss Spike himself, just the sex. Hee!

...aaaand of course you're a Spike fan, so you wouldn't feel that way. Sorry. I'm one of those fans that blame Spike for taking over season 7 and marginalizing the other characters' arcs. So I love that Buffy misses the gang, but not Spike. It makes me feel vindicated, and like Joss is acknowledging my little section of the fandom, because that's how my self-centred little mind works, and I can't control my glee.

If you find me annoying and choose to ignore this, I will understand.

[identity profile] suspiria-1.livejournal.com 2007-03-10 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Considering Joss's words in a recent interview about how Spike means so much to Buffy, I highly doubt it was his intention for you to interpret that line that way. But hey, if that's what you want to believe, knock yourself out. Just as long as you don't expect everyone else to share the same view. :P

"if that's what you want to believe, knock yourself out."
Thanks. I will. Wheeeee! 8D ...

"Just as long as you don't expect everyone else to share the same view"
'Course not. Not right away at least... *sneaks away to work on plan to brainwash all of fandom*

;)

It's a little embarrassing how much brouhaha this one little ambiguous comment has made. Joss is such a fucker if that was intentional. LOL.

[identity profile] swsa.livejournal.com 2007-03-10 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it was TOTALLY intentional. He knows that one comment is going to set off the Spuffy fans into writing Buffy POV fic all about her Spike-filled dreams, while simultaneously making B/A shippers and Spike haters find a way to explain that line away to NOT be about Spike. Heee.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. :0D

Lucky for me a friend bought me a subscription for a b-day present so I didn't have to decide. But I think you should, Elisi! Lots of your flist will be talking about it and you know you'll be curious to read what all the fuss is about, whether good or bad.

Hey, how far do you live from London?

[identity profile] kittyzams.livejournal.com 2007-03-11 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to be staying with a friend in London for a week in May. I was hoping that we could meet up for tea or something. I'm not sure if I can convince my friend to roam two hours away, but we'll see.

I'm very excited because it will be my first trip over there! Do you have any favorite spots to visit in the London area that you would recommend seeing?

[identity profile] lusciousxander.livejournal.com 2007-03-10 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
maybe it's the same as the malls. The Gap and Toys R Us were Spike and Anya to Xander. Sex is Spike to Buffy. :)

I'm very posistive about these comics. I really liked the scene between Buffy and Xander and the one between Buffy and Dawn. I'm sure there'll be a lot that I won't like, but all the seasons had that, anyway, especially season 7.
