elisi: LOVE (i got you blue)
It seems ridiculous that it's six months since Good Omens appeared on my radar.

It's both been longer and shorter; like when falling in love time has just ceased to have meaning.

But to mark the occasion, the two things that are currently grabbing hold of me and refusing to let go:

Vid

Gravity by [personal profile] purplefringe
music: Gravity by Vienna Teng
summary: I am a constant satellite / of your blazing sun

I was fortunate enough to help beta this (although I am not sure how much I contributed, apart from flailing a lot). The result is that the song, and the imagery to go with it, have been in my head for weeks and weeks, a wonderful state to be in.

I can't even explain how amazing it is, just go watch. This is a Crowley study, and digs into a ton of different layers. There is love and pain and beauty and fire and meta and faith and... all the things! ♥ If you loved Hallelujah, then this is the other half of a whole.

Highly recommended: Watch Hallelujah first, then Gravity. A lot of shots are re-used, but imbued with different meanings... Here is Aziraphale (cautious, worried), watching Crowley. And here is Crowley, and this is what he's trying to say, this is what he sees, what he feels. Mirrors. But showing different things.

Fic

Slow Show by mia_ugly
Words: 89374 95505
Chapters: 11/12 12/12
Rating: Explicit
Summary: In which temptations are accomplished, grand romantic gestures are made, and two ineffable co-stars only take four seasons of an award-winning television program to realize they’re on their own side (at last, at last.)

So. Last Sunday I came across this fanart on Tumblr, created for/inspired by this fic. And thought... You know, that's a hell of an endorsement, I might find it and have a look.

And then... GOODBYE REST OF THE DAY. (The first chapter is bloody genius.) Read all eleven chapters, or rather inhaled them. Then circled straight back to the beginning, and read it again. Am currently reading it for the third time. I just want to... bask.

As you might have noticed, it's an AU. But not in the 'Crowley has a flower shop and Aziraphale has a book shop and oooh, will they get together??' (that's not a bad fic btw, but this one's on a different level). This is an AU in the sense of 'What if you stripped away everything supernatural, and told the story straight?' If we take Fallen!Snake!Crowley as a metaphor for the guy who was forced out of the closet and is loud and proud, but still living with the wounds and the scars, and can never get away from What He Is and What He Did - and if Terribly!Cautious!Angel!Aziraphale is a metaphor for someone so far back in the closet no one knows he's there... It's a story about Coming Out and the price of that and how the world treats people like that and Forbidden Love and never, ever getting a day off from it. It's beautiful and painful and the writing is so amazing I just drink it down like rich red wine.

In short, I love this fic like Crowley loves Avery Fell. (Helplessly, incapable of resisting, knowing that it hurts and yet I just want to linger over every detail, repeatedly.)
