Activism/resources
* Swing Left - org focused on mobilizing people all over the country to help gain/retain swing districts. I really like the setup - it tells you your closest "swing district" (however they're defining it) and then asks you to sign up to be part of that particular team.
* This is what Pro Publica is now covering. Pro Publica is a proven non-profit investigative journalism org, and this is a great list of both their emphases going forward and the Twitters of the people covering those topics.
* okay, librarians. we need to talk about the fact that we can no longer advise patrons and students that websites w/ .gov are trustworthy (Twitter thread on info literacy)
* How the town of Whitefish defeated its neo-Nazi trolls — and became a national model of resistance (Yahoo). HIGHLY RECCED.
News / rumors
* Starting January 20, Donald Trump Can Send Unblockable Mass Text Messages to the Entire Nation (NY Mag)
* Trump just picked John Gore, lawyer who defended NC's anti-trans #HB2 in court, to run DOJ's Civil Rights Division (Twitter, source in replies)
* Mike Lee introduces bill to reassert Congress's authority over trade policy (Twitter). This is a Republican senator, mind you. Wouldn't it be interesting if a major outcome of all this were significant weakening of executive power as byproduct of Republican congress reigning in their own president?
* [Mattis's] first substantive sentence "together with the INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY we are the sentinels and guardians of our nation." (Twitter - I'm following this guy now fyi, he's ex-state dept)
* Musicians Terrified Over Possible Obamacare Repeal (Rolling Stone)
* Today belongs to Trump, but Obama's vision will win in the end (Vox, by Matthew Yglesias)
