So, I was kinda absent from LJ due to RL stuff (involving a child and the hospital, but everything is fine and please don't worry!) and when I came back I discovered that the kerfuffle that's been hanging around in LJs 'far away' had suddenly showed up in my neighbourhood and gone all Empty Places on parts of my flist. *deep sigh* I just want to get out some sticky-backed plastic and fix you, but that's never going to work, is it?
Anyway, this just pushed me towards a hiatus that I was contemplating *anyway*, since I really, really need to concentrate on my writing. So - love to you all, and please, please be nice while I'm gone. (I'll still read my flist, but won't be commenting or posting - at least not until issue 4 comes out when I might do my usual thing of gathering up links.)

dovil has a very good post about fanon vs canon (which is where this whole sorry mess started) (ETA: She didn't start anything - the post is just sensible, spells out the issues and I liked it), and shadowscast has contemplates Why writing fanfic is good for you.
