Does anyone else have such severe Covid trauma that when they watch movies and TV, even old ones, they sometimes catch themselves thinking “these people are too close to each other, they’re up in each other’s faces”

I don't know that I would describe it as 'trauma', more just an awareness of how the current situation is now deeply embedded in how I interact with the world. WHY ARE YOU SO CLOSE TOGETHER? WHY DO YOU KEEP TOUCHING?

I love fandom SO MUCH.

And the thing is, I remember when the poster was released and everyone was flailing because it was so hot. And then people discovered that a) it wasn't a period drama and b) it was supposed to be unsettling, not exciting, and promptly decided that the original interpretation was far superior to whatever the film actually was.

That poster was supposed to be unsettling, not hot? I mean she's pushing him against the wall, they're both pretty, and if that's his scared and unhappy expression, he needs to learn how to express things.

IKR? That is not a scared face, that is a oh god yes, more please face.

Yeah, and it's not just an expression he happened to be making. They directed him to act out the scene, filmed it with him making that expression, and chose that exact still to represent the movie on the poster! Multiple layers of decision-making went into chosing the expression where she had him pinned like that and he was responding with that face!
