Buffy re-watch (with the next generation)
About halfway through S2 now, keep meaning to write something...
So, Some Time Ago, Impish Girl (that's the 17 year old) said she'd quite like to watch Buffy. The 12 year old (13 on Sunday!) agreed and towards the end of the summer holidays we started watching. Tore through S1 v quickly, often watching two episodes a night, and they loved it rather. And it has to be said that S1 is a lot of fun! Also the characters are so well drawn and immediately relatable, that they loved them immediately.
We've taken S2 a bit more slowly, since they're back at school, but they are loving it. Special highlights was Willow's rant in Reptile Boy, Cordelia & Xander's smooches (the MUSIC!), Spike being awesome and Buffy's 'When I kiss you, I want to die' has yet to be bettered in their opinion, they found it HILARIOUS. Oh and they adore Giles (obviously), and Cordy, and loved the fact that in Bad Eggs (which we watched tonight), Angel literally does NOTHING except show up to smooch Buffy.
It's v enjoyable to re-watch btw. Like, Jonathan first pops up in Inca Mummy Girl (and nearly gets killed) and KEEPS popping up in teeny tiny little roles and every time I go 'Jonathan!' He's so tiny and just looks perpetually bewildered.
Ethan Rayne! Even more delightful than I remembered.
They ship Giles/Jenny like crazy (because they are terribly cute) and will be VERY CROSS if something happens to her.
Oh and Oz! ♥ That is such a beautifully slow build.
They really liked 'Ted' (the episode), tightly written, v well done.
OK, am now rambling. Miss M (the eldest, 19) joins us now and again, and her favourites are Buffy & Giles, and she also loves Cordy.

Sirius's death is more 'realistic' in that it happens due to a variety of factors and no one person is to blame. Yet at the same time, it's almost inevitable and it happens so quickly, too, there's no drama about it on the page. You blink and he's gone, forever. Like so many real life people.

It's an incredible episode. And it hurts a lot to watch them try to be happy knowing how it'll all end...

Yeah, this. :(
