Buffy re-watch (with the next generation)
About halfway through S2 now, keep meaning to write something...
So, Some Time Ago, Impish Girl (that's the 17 year old) said she'd quite like to watch Buffy. The 12 year old (13 on Sunday!) agreed and towards the end of the summer holidays we started watching. Tore through S1 v quickly, often watching two episodes a night, and they loved it rather. And it has to be said that S1 is a lot of fun! Also the characters are so well drawn and immediately relatable, that they loved them immediately.
We've taken S2 a bit more slowly, since they're back at school, but they are loving it. Special highlights was Willow's rant in Reptile Boy, Cordelia & Xander's smooches (the MUSIC!), Spike being awesome and Buffy's 'When I kiss you, I want to die' has yet to be bettered in their opinion, they found it HILARIOUS. Oh and they adore Giles (obviously), and Cordy, and loved the fact that in Bad Eggs (which we watched tonight), Angel literally does NOTHING except show up to smooch Buffy.
It's v enjoyable to re-watch btw. Like, Jonathan first pops up in Inca Mummy Girl (and nearly gets killed) and KEEPS popping up in teeny tiny little roles and every time I go 'Jonathan!' He's so tiny and just looks perpetually bewildered.
Ethan Rayne! Even more delightful than I remembered.
They ship Giles/Jenny like crazy (because they are terribly cute) and will be VERY CROSS if something happens to her.
Oh and Oz! ♥ That is such a beautifully slow build.
They really liked 'Ted' (the episode), tightly written, v well done.
OK, am now rambling. Miss M (the eldest, 19) joins us now and again, and her favourites are Buffy & Giles, and she also loves Cordy.

Oh dear . . .
Well, best to learn that lesson early.

Angelus really is the most evil bastard ever.

Also much approval for the Cody love.

Oh yes, I'm am very much looking forward. And Cordy. ♥ There is no bad.

Like Jonathan. <3 I think another reason I slowed down when we got to season 5 was dreading Season 6...which actually might be even harder to watch than ever before because of how often I see the "angry male nerd" on twitter now :(

IKR? And they are all still SO YOUNG. Anyway, Surprise/Innocence tonight. I think I shall make them hot chocolate.
Like Jonathan. <3
If I wasn't yelling his name every time, they'd never realise it was the same guy. *pets him*

The show was ahead of the curve... (Warren: You think you can just do that to me??) I guess if Riley is a metaphor for (white) male privilege (not 'bad' per se, but didn't know how to deal with a woman who didn't 'need' him), then The Trio are definitely toxic masculinity. [Sidebar: HI KYLO REN!]

I've been re-watching too!
Willow's rant in Reptile Boy
Yes!
Cordelia & Xander's smooches (the MUSIC!)
Yes!
they adore Giles
I love Giles so much. It's interesting: the first time I watched the show, I focused on Buffy and Angel in the early seasons. When I re-watch now, though (and I re-watch often - it's comfort viewing, for me) - when I re-watch, it's all about the friendships, and the father-daughter relationship between Giles and Buffy. The way that father-daughter relationship grows and develops is just beautiful. Anthony Stewart Head is such an amazing actor, and when you focus on his facial expressions - it's beautiful.

I brought 'em up right!
I've been re-watching too!
Yay! It is the best show. <3

All of this. As an ensemble, I think it's pretty much unrivalled.

MInd you, I basically rage-watched the entire show, so take that with as much salt as you deem necessary : ) But yeah: Giles (and Giles & Buffy) are great.

ETA: Seriously, what would you like? What image do you associate with me?

I thought it might be this one.

The headdesking is mostly at myself for giving in all the time.

I didn't know it was hellfire. That makes it x500 better!
And I can do a headdesk one if you like, sure.

Well, I assume that was the intent. Between the background and the classic standard demon font *eyebrow waggle*
And I can do a headdesk one if you like, sure.
Like I said, I need to think about it. This is an important icon. Want to get it right.

That does make sense...

Cool cool cool. ETA: I can do several different ones for you to choose from!

If you feel like it.

It's nice imagery, but entirely too innocent. Need something of Clara being evil.

Sirius's death is more 'realistic' in that it happens due to a variety of factors and no one person is to blame. Yet at the same time, it's almost inevitable and it happens so quickly, too, there's no drama about it on the page. You blink and he's gone, forever. Like so many real life people.

It's an incredible episode. And it hurts a lot to watch them try to be happy knowing how it'll all end...

Yeah, this. :(

And Passion... Well, they are very trope savvy (i.e. they know that because Giles & Jenny are so adorable, something bad is likely to happen), but the HOW. I don't think anything can prepare them.
