Question!
So, is there a way to add a feed on someone's LJ flist for people posting only on DW?
Or would people get very cross, because they want to have left completely? As far as I can tell it isn't possible, so it's a very hypothetical question...
ETA: I appears to be possible, although it might be easier to set up DW notification for the DW accounts you want to follow.

I'll assume this would have the same issues as following someone from LJ on your DW reading list by syndicating their feed: no flocked posts and no cut tags (so you see all the content of the post directly on your flist.)
But, yes, if someone has gone so far as to delete all their ties to LJ, you might want to check first if they're ok with you re-importing their content.
The other real option in you really don't want to have to maintain a DW reading list is just to set up notifications for yourself when the person posts. That does require a DW account, though maybe you can do it with open ID? Are you asking for yourself or someone else?
ETA: ok, I see. Yes, I'm pretty sure it can be done. But it would be annoying and you'd miss posts and you're probably better off using notifications or just making yourself a reading list on DW.

I have just resigned myself to having two flists... Although considering how many have flounced off the last few days, there'll be less overlap now. :)
You've gotta filter your default view to hide the duplicate posts. Give everybody a bit to see where they settle and then with the people who reliably cross-post, decide which side you want to read them on and hide them on the other. That way you're not scrolling through pages of stuff you already read, and you don't have to unfriend anybody.
Once you've done that, reading two flists is seriously no more nuisance than reading one. Matching your visuals helps too, but you've already done that.
I am, weirdly, suddenly suffering from the inverse problem. Which is, I've been reading two flists for four years now and deleting my LJ has left me with that sensation you get when you think there's one more step on the staircase than there is and you either trip over the air or slam your foot into the ground. So, yeah, you can definitely get used to it *g*
ETA: I think it's a sign that the tipping point truly has been reached that the people who have stayed behind on LJ are suddenly having to learn the coping strategies that the early adopters have been relying on for years (RSS feeds, managing two flists).

Heh. I think someone answered on her LJ and she is happy. :)

Good point. I've not used filters in YEARS, but they are v. handy.

That is how I broke my foot. Well, I thought I was at the bottom and I wasn't and then there was just air and I fell on my foot.

I hope people just stay put now. Honestly, for as long as I've been on LJ there have been outrages and people getting up in arms. I'm not sure why people get so VERY angry, I've never seen anyone be that upset over facebook. And Tumblr users are constantly complaining, but they don't leave.

I'd forgotten about your foot! Probably the most inferior-Se thing I've ever heard. "I broke it on something that wasn't there."

I figured the only people on Tumblr who cared at all about LJ/DW were the ones already here, and then why would you talk about it on Tumblr?
I don't think I can speak for everybody who is angry about LJ, though of course one would be more angry about LJ than Facebook. Facebook is just RL!
Though I *did* get super angry at Facebook and rage quit, so I may not be representative. (I joined Facebook back when you had to be a college student to even get an account. Then they started letting other people in, but that was fine. And *then* they started changing privacy settings without warning, such that suddenly something you'd hidden was visible to everybody without your permission. And some things that you used to be able to keep private you couldn't anymore. And then they introduced a new TOS that was basically paving the road for them to become the giant internet octopus with its tentacles in all of your business all over the web that we know and hate today. So I quit.

No worries, I know exactly what you mean.

When you put it like that...

V. cool, have pimped. :)

And I guess people don't post their m/m tentacle dark!fic to facebook... ;)

I only joined v recently, so as to keep in touch with family. I do not like it. I have as little as possible information on there, and tend to just 'like' things, and occasionally share a post I like. Hilariously, it keeps popping up with 'Facebook cares about your privacy! Here is how to adjust your settings!' It'd be funny if it wasn't so annoying. Wouldn't mind deleting it, but it IS handy for keeping tabs on people.

A better question, is there a way to add a feed to DW for people posting only lj for those of us who left?

I'm a little hazy because it must be five years since I set up an RSS feed as a journal on LJ but I'm fairly sure that a) you can access DW journals as RSS feeds and b) that if you have an LJ account you can set up set RSS feeds as some kind of cypto-journal on LJ and then add it to your flist.

And yes, very faffy.
