Friday afternoon round-up
It's not OK that people keep dying. This goes without saying, but it's been a terrible year for wonderful & famous people.
lost_spook posted lots of clips of Victoria Wood, including one where she met Matt Smith and discussed tea. I did not know of this, and somehow it's made the world a better place knowing that this encounter took place:
For Prince, I liked this article in The Guardian: Prince broke all the rules about what black American men should be.
Prince was willing to talk about the exploitation of the professional black artist and he refused to play anyone’s game or to act with gratitude. Choosing a symbol, (and one that fused the icons for male and female), meant journalists couldn’t even print his old name anymore. It was, in retrospect, the first time I experienced someone refusing to live under the oppressive binary regime of gender, or to submit to the dominant power’s rules.

Thing of beauty: In other news, you have probably seen this already, but Ted Cruz whined about how ~hard~ it is running for President, and Elizabeth Warren destroyed him.
♥
~~
And tomorrow the new Companion is revealed!!
~~
That's all for now - I need to get back to work! :)

CHANCELLOR: There is, er, there is one part of the prophecy, my Lord.
(The Chancellor brings a paper to the Lord President.)
CHANCELLOR: Forgive me, I'm sorry. It's rather difficult to decipher, but it talks of two survivors beyond the Final Day. Two children of Gallifrey.
RASSILON: Does it name them?
CHANCELLOR: It foresees them locked in their final confrontation, The Enmity of Ages, which would suggest
RASSILON: The Doctor! And the Master.
They are quite literally EPIC. :)

Actually, last time I watched it I found that EoT makes perfect sense if you think of the whole thing as Ten's regeneration-sickness-induced fever dream: somewhere, somewhen, he tripped over a brick and hit his head and was so disappointed at his anticlimactic regeneration that he dreamed of an epic universe-imperilling death sequence where he is the most important person in the universe, his angst is so tragic and full of pathos look at all the burdens on his poor shoulders, he gets final confirmation that he was right to blow up the Time Lords, the Master is staring into his eyes and wibbling about their lost childhood on Gallifrey, and the whole thing works by dream logic.
I swear, every time I watch it, it makes LESS sense. Like, I can cope with plotholes, but EoT is just these random things thrown together and not held together by ANYTHING!
However, I noticed that the Time Lords had an actual 'ship name for Doctor/Master, and thus had my friend

I'm not sure if The Day Of The Doctor makes sense either. Does Ten forget everything that happened except the Queen Liz bit?

DotD is fine! And Ten was busy courting Liz I before Eleven showed up, so it makes sense that he remembers that SOMETHING happened.

Hmmm. It won't do wood, so I doubt it'd do paper. ;)
